Many Cagle researchers (including me) think that Mahala was a sister to
Leonard Cagle (1798-1866) because of their close association and location. I
cannot prove her parentage, either. James and Mahala Burns donated the land
for the Blue Ridge Baptist Church where they are buried. I probably have more
information on their children if anyone needs it.

Can anyone help me identify the Mahala Cagle below: I'm positive
about the
names and dates as they appear on their tombstones. They were variously
recorded as being born in SC or NC since this area was part of disputed
territory between the two states. Today it is Transylvania County, NC. The
