I really can't answer that one for you. However, I will tell you what I have
seen and
read.
While visiting with Jimmy B. Cagle in Long Beach, MS, I mentioned to Jimmy
that
his book was wrong with regard to the parentage of Leonard Cagle b. 1780 and
identifiable by the names of the children.
He didn't argue the point at the time but, the following day, he showed me two
references which were published by John G Cagle in his Journals. I don't
have the
Journals and so can't quote them to you now. I do have them on order. The
references are May 1992, pg 3 and Dec 1993, pg 2. Another reference is to
Cagle
Families in the South to 1850 VI, pg 489 all of which suggest John Cagle, b.
abt
1743 in Lancaster Co., PA as the father and Mary unknown in Cabarrus Co., NC
b.
abt 1769 as the mother.
Jacob made a will in Robertson Co., TN on May 18, 1826 wherein he leaves all
his assets to his wife Mary Cagle for life and if anything remains on her
death
to go to his son Jacob. No other children are mentioned. What a bummer!!
There is also, good reason to believe that Charles is the father; however,
for my
money, I'm going with John. I wish I had these reference materiels so I
could
read them for myself in my own time but, if John G thinks it is John, I am
going
with John G. Leonard is his GGG Grandfather too.
