Below is some information sent to me by an individual researching Isaac Cagle of Vermont.
I have Isaac listed on the Cagles In The Civil War web site and, although I am not related
to Isaac, he has always intrigued me since I never realized we had Cagle family that far
north. The information below seems to indicate that Isaac is from Canada, came to Vermont
and ended up in Wisconsin. If anyone has more information about Isaac and his family,
please let me know so I can pass it on.

This information is from a pension file found at the Clerk of Courts, Clark
County, WI, courthouse in Neillsville. My friend Kevin and I are anxious to
share the information in hopes of locating descendants, family of Isaac
Cagle.
Isaac Cagle was born December 10, 1840. His parents were George Kagle,
laborer, and Julie (nee Sylvestre) Kagle. He was baptized December 11, 1840
and his Godfather was Edward Ferland, Godmother - Marie Kagle; J. E.
Morisset P.; at St. Jean, (St. Johns?), P. Quebec.
Isaac had several brothers and sisters, and at the time of his birth in
Canada the family and relatives spelled the name "Kagle".

CERTIFICATE from the STATE of VERMONT - ADJUTANT GENERAL'S OFFICE
Montpelier, April 5th, 1897
I hereby Certify that it appears from the records in this office, that
Isaac Cagle was enlisted on the 7th day of February 1865, at Brandon,
Vermont, to serve one year and mustered into the United States service as a
Private on the 7th day of February 1865, as a recruit in Co. B, Seventh
Reg't of Infantry Vermont Volunteers, to serve one year, mustered out of
service February 7, 1866. Signed - T. S. Peck (Adjutant General)

Isaac C. Cagle was married to Electa ?, when and where unknown. Isaac
Cagle and wife, Electa, adopted a son, Peter Theodore Wisehaupt, in February
of 1997 at LaCrosse, WI. At this time Peter was 6 years of age, having been
born on January 23, 1891, to John Wisehaupt (deceased in '97) and Elizabeth
Wisehaupt Cross of Milwaukee, WI.

Isaac was issued a pension #963,077, on June 2, 1898, from the
Department of Interior, Bureau of Pensions. His address at this time was
LaCrosse, WI.
In the early 1900's, 1910 - 1914, and perhaps several years later, he
resided in Neillsville, WI.
Isaac died in October of 1923 at LaCrosse, WI.
