.
ii. Isaac Cagle, born Abt. 1790 in Moore Co., NC; died Bef. 1850 in
Marshall Co., MS. He married (1) Zana Hanson; born 1808; died 1862. He
married (2) Nancy Duty Abt. 1813 in Henderson Co., TN; born 1793 in
North Carolina.
Notes for Isaac Cagle:
Isaac's older son, as noted in the 1820 Moore County, NC, census, may
have died before 1840 as he is not known to be listed in the census and
is not mentioned in Isaac's 1850 estate settlement. The name of Isaac's
older son is not known but the daughter, also noted in the 1820 census
was Rebecca J Cagle who later married Wyatt Temple. The Temples
originated in Chatham County, NC. Samuel Temple, Sr. had land in Orange
County, NC (later Chatham County) on both sides of Bear Creek and close
by the land in Moore County, NC, where the Cagle families had settled.
Isaac's second son, Raleigh J (1824-1891) is noted, along with the older
son, in the 1830 census of Henderson Co., TN. Two more children, Nancy J
and George W were born to Isaac and Nancy in the 1830s. On September 11,
1842, Rebecca and Wyatt Temple, daughter and son-in-law of Isaac, bought
land in Marshall County, MS near the Tennessee State Line. Isaac
followed them to MS and on Dec 19, 1843, bought a tract of land
adjoining his daughter. The land was purchased from James Greer and wife
Rachel for $1,500; the acreage is not known. The transaction was
recorded in Deed Book L, page 250, Marshall Co., MS., where Isaac Cagle
had land adjoining that owned by Wyatt Temple. Their son Raleigh J. was
situated just across the state line in Shelby County, TN. Isaac is
believed to have died in the early part of 1850 since his wife is shown
as "Head of Household" in the 1850 Census of Marshall County. Daughter,
Nancy D married George Whitmore on Nov 4, 1850. The heirs of Isaac sold
his land and the family group split up. By 1863, George W Cagle, along
with his sister and brother-in-law, Rebecca and Wyatt Temple, moved to
Pulaski Co., AR. Raleigh J along with his sister and brother in law,
Nancy and George Whitmore moved to Calcasieu Parish, La. By the time for
the 1870 Census, Nancy and George Whitmore had moved westward to
Robertson Co., TX.

iii. Jacob Cagle, born 1790 in Moore County, No., NC; died Bef. 10
January 1846 in Haralson Co., GA. He married Margaret Unknown 1814 in
Moore Co., NC; born Abt. 1790; died Aft. 1850 in Haralson Co., GA. Notes
for Jacob Cagle:
The origins of Jacob Cagle who migrated from Moore Co., NC to Paulding
Co., GA in the 1830s are not entirely clear, but it appears he is a son
of George Cagle, c.1760-1830s, and Elizabeth Cagle, c1760-1850s, of
Moore Co., and a grandson of the pioneer who had migrated from
Pennsylvania to North
Carolina in the 1750s, John "Dutchman" Cagle, d. 1799. George Cagle Sr.,
it is believed, died on the home place in Moore Co., NC, which his
father, John Dutchman Cagle, had acquired in the 1760s. Isaac Cagle left
Moore County in the 1820s, and migrated first to Henderson Co., TN and
then to Marshall Co., MS. John M Cagle remained on the family home
place, and later was the proprietor of the Cagle Gold Mine which was
developed on that property prior to the Civil War. In the 1850 Census of
Moore Co., NC, John M was listed at age 57, and his household included
his widowed mother, Elizabeth Cagle, age 90. Jacob Cagle, as already
noted, migrated to Paulding Co., GA and vicinity; a third son Benjamin
Cagle, was born to Jacob and wife Margaret about
1822.
Jacob appears in the 1820 and 1830 census with his father and brothers
in Moore Co., NC:

Jacob moved from NC to GA in the 1830s, and settled in what is now
Haralson County, and was living in the region when the Cherokee Indians
still occupied the region and at the time of the GA State Census of 1837
with six others in his household. When the Cherokees were removed to
western lands in 1838, the
soldiers who volunteered for the removal seem to have included a Pvt
George Cagle. These soldiers
served under Captain John Witcher's Company of Mounted Volunteers,
Paulding County for three months, and assembled the Cherokees from the
Paulding County area at the spring near Munroe Bridge on Munroe Mill
Road (near the Cagle homestead, in NW corner of present Haralson
County). This Pvt
George Cagle was apparently the oldest son, born 1810s, of Jacob Cagle
1790-1840s.
At the time of the Census, Leonard Cagle, 1780-1850s, and Jacob Cagle,
1790s-1840s, were both enumerated in Paulding Co., GA, as noted below.

page 101.
Cagle, Jacob 0101101-0110101 page 102
In 1841, Jacob purchased a farm in Paulding County with the witnesses to
the deed including his son,
George Cagle, b. 1810s: Polk Co Deed Book A, page 7, reports on 23 Nov
1841, John H Smith of Campbell Co to Jacob Cagle of Paulding County, for
$100, 40A, being Lot 749, District 1, Section E, in Paulding County.
Witnesses: George Cagle, S J Weaver, JP. The deed was not recorded until
Oct 30, 1852, so was included in the deed book for Polk Co., which had
been formed from the western end of Paulding Co. in 1851. In 1856, this
land became part of Haralson County.
A short distance southeast Bethlehem Church was organized. The church is
located two miles southwest of Felton, GA in the NW corner of Haralson
County. The first service was held on Jan 22, 1843 by Rev Minton. On the
same date Samuel (Jacob's son), and Jacob were received as members and
baptized into the faith on March 23, 1843 by Rev Minton, who was serving
as the church's first minister. On July 22, 1843, the first deacons were
ordained, among them, Samuel Cagle. A list of members dated Jan 10,
1846, lists Jacob but with the notation "dead". Jacob's grave has never
been located. It is assumed to be in the unmarked graves of Bethlehem
Church Cemetery.
Jacob was listed on the 1840 Paulding County Census which is present
Haralson County. Wife Margaret was listed on the 1850 Paulding County
census as widow, age 51, with son, Benjamin age 18. Jacob had died after
1843 and before 10 Jan 1846, according to records of the Bethlehem
Baptist Church.
His oldest son George is believed to have migrated to Alabama prior to
1850, and by 1860 had taken up residence inTishomingo Co., MS. Samuel,
who had married Ester Johnson in Paulding County on 30 May 1843,
migrated to Marion Co., AL prior to 1860. Youngest son Benjamin was
married to Angeline Roberts on 2 Sep 1852, by T J Tingle, JP, as
recorded in Polk Co Marriage Book A, page 116; (in 1851, the western end
of old Paulding was made into Polk County). The widow Margaret Cagle,
during the 1850s, moved with Benjamin and family to Alabama, where they
lived in Calhoun and Benton Counties; there she married James McCormack,
but he died in 1855, and thereafter she appears in records as Margaret
McCormack, widow. Her sons George and Benjamin both served as appraisers
of Mr McCormack's Estate in December 1855. Benjamin, prior to leaving
Georgia, had bought Lots 690 and 765, adjoining his father's home place
of 1841, but sold them during the 1850s.
