Earl and List,
Henry Cagle Sr, ca 1760-1837, (son of "Old" David, b. 1728), was married to
Elizabeth? Wagoner. Their son Henry Cagle Jr, was married to ???????? in
Cabarrus Co. NC before 1820. This family moved Hardin Co., TN before 1830.
Henry Cagle Jr and his wife lived in Hardin Co., TN until ca 1838 when they
moved with most of their family to New Madrid Co., MO. In the 1840's the
unknown wife of Henry Cagle Jr. died. Henry apparently married a widow with
three Children. They show in the 1850 census as follows:
Henry Cagle 70 NC
Rebecca 48 NC
Eliza 17 TN (daughter of Henry and 1st wife)
Jasper 16 TN (child of Rebecca ?)
Morrow 5 TN "
Adam 5 TN "
1. All this family were listed as Cagles. Was Rebecca a Cagle Widow from
somewhere in TN?
2. Who was Henry Jr.'s first wife ?
David Cagle
Hardin Co., TN

Subject: Genealogy Roadblocks
We all have these at one time or another in our research. The list
has
been quiet of late, in part because of the holiday.
My deadend on my Cagle's, is my g-grandmother Mary Alvira Cagle.
According to census records she was born Aug. 1860 in Arkansas. She says
her father was born in Tennessee, and dosen't know where her mother was
born. Because of her marriage certificate I have to believe her maiden
name was, Cagle. She married Thomas William Cagle, in Oregon Co; Mo; on
24 July 1877. The hand written record says Mary E. Cagle. Her middle
name I have seen as Alvira, and Elvira.
I have never been able to find her parents. Her and her husband were
last together in the 1900 census of Mississippi Co; Mo. He along with
two of their children appear in the 1910 census of Oregon Co; Mo. He at
sometime after this moves back to Mississippi Co; and dies in Charleston
in 1917. He is buried in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Charleston.
She I think is buried in Lanes Chapel Cemetery in Clarksville Red River
Co; Tx. There is a marker with the name Mary A. Cagle. Her husbands
brother William, settled there in the late 1870's. He and his wife and
most children are buried there. I have always thought that she either
seperated from her husband, or went there to nurse someone back to good
health.
So as you can see I am at a deadend on finding out more about her.
Well this is my Cagle Roadblock, what are yours ?
Earl
