I just recieved word that Jimmy Cagle of Longbeach, MS
has passed away. I think he died yesterday. Funeral
will be tommow (Friday). I had never met Jimmy in person,
but I feel that he was family. He was very glad to help you
when he could.
No, I have no idea from what the original information was transcribed from; however, what I
quoted was information from John G Cagle's publication which he quoted from the Wellman
Book. I doubt that John researched it, he probably took it as fact without a source other than
the book it's self.
This information was sufficient and accepted by DAR when applied by Ronald Ashley Cagle
for his daughters. I can put you in contact with "Ashley" but, the information he used was
provided by to him by me and as I said, I took it from John G's writings.
Let me know if you discover anything new.

Great stuff, Lee. Thank you. I agree that Wellman's book is a misreading. What I'm trying to find is the document Wellman read in the first place! Any ideas of what document it is? I tried to figure it out from the footnotes, and I can't even begin to understand which ibid the footnote is referring to.
Thanks!
