It's a small world......I just purchased a package of chicken here in Louisiana. When I arrived home I noticed it was "CAGLE'S" brand from Atlanta, Georgia. To be exact : "Cagle's Inc., 2000 Hills Ave., N.W., Since 1945". I would like to find the connection of this line to my husband's line from Mississippi.
Thank you.
Hi Group
There are a lot of Littleton last names in North Carolina, I wonder if our
David Cagle or Jacob Cagle were married to a Littleton. We have no last name
for David (Katherine Unknown) and Jacob 1755 wife Lucy Unknown it is worth
looking into?
Nancy Jane
Question
do you think that Littleton was a maiden name for Jacob's wife ? maybe
one of Jacob other son's named a child Littleton and the name is carried thru
the family. ????
NancyJane
Thanks for posting.

>Nancy Jane,
Are you saying that the Jonnie V Cagle with William and
Susan Cagle in 1870 is not the same as Johnnie Levine Cagle
that Sherry asked about, or are you saying that there's more
that one Littleton? I'm not familiar with that line at all.
I just searched the 1930 census and that was the closest
match in age and then also took into account that he listed
his parents as being born in Tennessee so I checked the 1870
census in TN. I thought that the V was just a censustaker's
usual screw up when I saw William and Susan with John V as
their son and I just checked back in that area and found
William was the son of Littleton. Get past that GA line and
all I can do is check census records. You can probably give
her a lot more information that I can. Actually no probably
about it, I KNOW you can!

Karen,
I will need more information than you provided. Names are important, but so are dates and
places which help to verify we are talking about the same people. Also, you will need to
tell me about his grandfather, (name, date and place of birth). Most public records are not
released until they are at least 50 yrs old. Example: US Fed census records were just
released for 1930. This means you must know your husband's ancestoral history at least
back that far.
Please contact me again when you have this information, and I will be happy to help.

Sherry, I found this bit of information in the 1920 Alabama Census.
John Cagle 50 years old, wife Susan 44 years old, both born in
Tennessee. Daughters, Bessie 13, Paralee 10 and Myrtle 4 years, 11
months. All the girls were born in Alabama.
Unfortunately, they showed John and Susan's parts as having been born in
the United States instead of a specific state. The record reflected
John's occupation as a fisherman. This of course is before your
grandmother was born so she is not recorded.
I will check a little further. Are names of the girls familiar to you?
Best wishes, Earl L. Cagle, Sr.
Okay, Tennessee Cagles, the census records that I checked
show this to be William Cagle's son based on birth place and
date. And I think this William is Littleton Cagle's son.
Can anybody give some more information on this?

Hi
When you get a reply and it has extra info in it copy and paste the part
you want into Microsoft Word and print it out off of it. This is what I do. I
do not like to print out the other info either.
NancyJane
sometimes I forget and copy all of it too
Lee asked for me to be more specific. I often print out your answers to
queries, and it may have several responses on the same email. For instance Nancy J
might have sent a response to someone and it be 10 pages long. The next
response might be sent by hitting reply. So now you have 12 pages. Usually I had
already copied the Nancy Jane listed Genealogy. There may be a way to delete
parts of it but I'm not that computer literate. Bettye

Testing this email address. I am a descendant of William Cagle (1788-1860) and Sarah Brewer (1794-1880+) by their son Harmon Cagle, who went to Hall County, GA.
That would be Holly (Blackwell) Cagle, mother inlaw of John Snodgrass and widow of
Thomas Cagle, b. 1830, Perry Co., TN. "Mattie" is their daughter, Martha E Cagle, b. 7 Oct 1860, Arkansas.
William Thomas Boggs, 1850-1939 married Sarah Jane Cagle, 1851-1885. She is the dau
of Leonard & Charity Louise (Honea) Cagle. Leonard is the son of Green.

List:
An apparent reference to the use of his farm as a muster ground, in June
1776, is seen in Manly Wade Wellman's book "The Story of Moore County"
(1974), pp.22-23. The text cites a "Henry Eagle" on Bear Creek, but this is
most certainly a miss reading of "Henry Cagle", since there is no record of
Henry Eagle having lived in this region:
"Two stalwarts for the Whig cause, Philip Alston and Thomas Matthews, were
commissioned colonels in the State Militia and enlisted their neighbors in
armed units to scout the Deep River country for those who still dared to
side with King George. Around the first of Jun, Alston called for a muster
at Henry Cagle's on Bear Creek. Mounted details went out looking for
recruits, and Tory sympathizers faded away...."
Henry's service during the Revolution was probably in the Militia, which
gave support to the regular Continental Troops. On 19 August 1873, Henry
presented a Claim to the State of North Carolina for compensation in the sum
of 13 pound, 11 shillings and 4 pence for his service in the militia during
the War. This can be found in Vol V, page 55, Folio 3, NC Revolutionary
Army Accounts, Claim #1854, Militia, 13-11-4. Also cited are his brothers
Leonard and John Cagle.
Henry appeared in the Minute Book of the Cumberland Co., NC Court of Pleas
and Quarters Sessions, for 29 Jan 1782 when he was appointed road overseer
from McClendon's Creek to Bear Creek.
Henry had a Land Entry in Cumberland County, presently Moore County, in 1768
and is known to have added to his 150 acres tract on Bear Creek, by
acquiring tracts of 100, 100, 50, 100, 25, 20 and 21 acres, by land grant
from the State of North Carolina, between the years of 1792 and 1801.
Other county records of Henry include:
(1) A deed from Henry Kagle and wife to Zack Smith was sworn by the oath of
William Mehoson and ordered to be registered, February 1785.
(2) Henry Cagle, Hardy Davis and Roger Cagle among those ordered to serve
on the jury at the next

The last I think I heard from Jennifer she was trying to get proof that
Peter and Rachel Boling Cagle were married. I think they probably
lived together and had enough children together to qualify as common
law. Which is better than some present day arrangements. One
interesting point here is, some time ago I posted the meaning of Kegel
in German as bowling pin and kegelin is bowling. Now we have a marriage
or arrangement at least between a Kegel and a Boling. Another aspect of
the Boling line I am investigating is to determine if Rachel is
descended from the Boling line that goes back to John Rolfe and
Pocahantus. I have seen some pedigree charts that indicates Rachel is
the daughter of Rev. Jesse Boling who served with Washington in the
Revolution, but have no tangible prooof. Any one have any thoughts on
this or better yet factual data? Earl L. Cagle, Sr.
