Barbara,
Over the years I have studied mainly my Cagle line, which goes back to
Leonhart Kegel b. abt.1684 in Germany. He is a common ancestor of many
other Cagle's, who are members of our list. However, other Cagle lines, are
of an interest to me as well. Your Cagle's. must have immigrated to America
in the 1850's possibly. Each week more and more ship transcriptions are
coming online. Although Leonhart came to Philadelphia, in 1732 Cagle's,
have also emigrated into ports of New Orleans, New York, New Jersey, and
other ports.
There were a few Cagle's, enumerated in Cumberland Allegany Co; Maryland in
the 1850 census. There could very well be a connection here to your Cagle
line.
1850 Cumberland Allegany County, Maryland p. 261
family 3836
Cagle, George 29 m Butcher Germany
Eve 27 f Germany
Louisa 5 f Md
Ann 3 f Md
Margaret 1 f Md
family 3837
Cagle, Adam 25 m Butcher Germany
Catherine 21 f Germany
Mary 1/12 f Md
This above census was enumerated on 14th. Dec 1850. There also was this
family in 1850 Cumberland Allegany County, Maryland p. 257b
family 3787
Kagle, John 56 m Laborer Germany
Margaret 55 f Germany
John 20 m Germany
There is also a Aden Cagle age 22, from Germany enumerated with another
family on p. 226A.
The key to finding more information on Sebastian Froehlich, and his wife
Catherine Cagle is the 1900 census. This is the first census that really
provided useful information for family research. Your family is enumerated
in 1900 Allegany Co; Maryland p.234A
Sebastian Froelich, is shown as 81 on his last birthday born in May 1819 in
Germany and immigrated in 1837 and has been living in America for 63 years.
His wife Catherine Froelich (Cagle), is shown as 59 born in Oct. 1840 in
Germany and immigrated in 1857 and has been living in America for 43 years.
It shows they have been married for 42 years, have 5 children and in 1900
all 5 are still living.
The key here is her year of arrival to America in 1857. According to the
census they were married in 1858 about a year after her arrival in America.
By the 1860 census she isn't living with her Cagle, family. She is a new
bride living with her husband in this census. The tough part is finding the
ship she and her family came to America on. However, at least you have the
year of arrival which helps a lot. That is just one reason why the 1900
census is so helpful. Well list members does anyone have anymore help for
Barbara?

Thanks, Ashley, for this update on John G. Cagle. I am sure all on the list appreciate the massive amount of Cagle research that John has shared and wish him good luck.

David & List,
Thanks for the information on this family. Do you have Edwin & Mary F.
Cagle's, marriage record as well as Elizabeth & Leonard Cagle's?
The death record online shows Mary F. Cagle, is buried at Prigmore Cemetery
in Jasper Co; Mo.
I am not sure if the cemetery spelling is correct. When I looked over
Jasper Co; USGenWeb site they had cemetery records online. When I clicked
on this cemetery name a different named cemetery record was shown. Do you
or another list member have the above cemetery information on her?

Donna,
I research with him every once in awhile. Problem is that he lost his job
thru the post office with early retirerment.
He works about three different jobs and even his wife now has to work. He
has two childern in Christain School and is committed to their christain
education. Sometimes we all have set backs in life and he has had his
share. He still is
researching. He is working on a book on TN dealing with land grants. He
still is our number one source for Cagle research. I am sure the Journal
will reappear in the future. As you can see, I am a big supporter of his.
Lets just give him sometime to work things out.
Thanks,

Who is this family below of Edwin & Mary F. Cagle, of Jasper Co; MO.? I was
looking at death records online and Missouri had her death record, and
showed she was born in Pike Co; MO; and lived and died in Jasper Co; MO.
Also can anyone identify the other Cagle's, enumerated in Jasper, County?

I forgot to send this to the list when I sent it to Lee last night. Someone
else might need this information. No need to read all of this e-mail . The
short version is - James M. Cagle, son of Martin Sr. married Mary Freeman
who was originally married to David Parnell (Father is Windall Storm
Parnell). I'll try to remember to include the list in the future. Sorry
about that.

Dana,
We have talked about Mahala Cagle, on our list before. According to
UsGenWeb Transylvania Co; NC was formed in 1861, from Henderson and Jackson
counties. Henderson Co; NC was formed in 1838 from Buncombe Co; NC. Jackson
Co; NC was formed in 1851, from Haywood and Macon.
My bet is Mahala Cagle's father, was one of the men listed below enumerated
in Buncombe Co; in 1800. All three men as you can see have daughters in the
0-10 year age group. With some help from the group we may be able to figure
this out by the process of elimination.
Jacob Cagle, is in the 16-26 year age bracket 1774 - 1784 probably a son of
Valentine Cagle, born between 1755 - 1774. I hate this broad age ranges in
the early census. Charles Cagle, was listed in the same age bracket as
Valentine, and they were probably brothers as well as Jacob Cagle Sr;
listed in 1800 Moore Co; NC.
So who were these daughters of the three men listed in Buncombe Co; NC,
born between 1790 - 1800? In my opinion one of them is probably the father
of Mahala Cagle, born 1798.
Her records of marriage should be in Henderson Co; NC.

With all the new information coming across the list, thought I would ask this again:
Does anyone have knowledge of Mahala Cagle b 1798 who married James Burns before 1828? They lived in Henderson/Transylvania Co. NC and were the parents of nine children. Since they would have been about 30 when they married, it is possible that one or both of them had been married previously.
Mahala and James are buried in the Blue Ridge Cemetery in Transylvania Co. NC. Who were the parents of Mahala Cagle? Or if she had been previously married, was Cagle her married or maiden name?
Dana
Lee & List,
There is a Enoch Cagle, listed on p.249 for 1850 Moore Co; NC. There is
also an Enoch Cagle, listed in 1850 Bradley Co; TN. There is a Enoch Kagle,
listed in 1850 Putnam Co; IN page 566.
The only complete listing I have for an Enoch Cagle, is the family in 1850
Bradley Co; TN. This same family appears in 1860 Monroe Co; TN census.
If you are someone has access to the complete census records for 1850 I
would check the ones I have indexed above.
