I am searching for any information on Eliza Cagle, daughter of Charlie B. and Harriet Cagle. She married John Kenady (Canady or Kennedy). Her daughter Mary Frances is my great-grandmother. I have found info on Charlie B, Harriet, and Henry (Charlie's father). I show Eliza and John in Marion Co AL in 1870 and Louisa Kenidy in Marion Co AL 1880 census. It appears that this Eliza and Louisa are the same lady because of the name Marilda Cagle (neighbor) in 1870 and Rilda Cagle living in same household in 1880, with William Cagle next door and Harriet Cagle with new husband David Clark next door to William. I have the 1850 and 1860 census forms for Charlie and Harriet and they both show Marilda and Eliza as daughters.
My great-grandmother is Mary Francis Kennedy Gray, she
married John Green Gray in 1889 Lake Co TN. I found
records of their marriage and it shows her last name as Cannad(a)y. I found the records of the Cagle cemetary in Marion Co and it shows the following names: Cagle, Canada, and Kennedy.
I don't know if Marilda ever married, as well as the other sisters (Margaret, Sarah, or Adaline). If so, I don't know their married names. I don't know what took Mary Francis from Marion Co, Alabama to Lake Co Tennessee. Her obituary in 1952 states that she has a brother John living in California.
Do you have any info on Charlie B and Harriet's children (who they married, where they settled, and their descendants)??
Thank you in advance for your help,
Neta Wheeler
Susan,
Do you know any dates or places for births, deaths, marriages, etc?
Also, what are the surnames for the children of Geraldona "Cupie".

Cuz Glinda and List Researchers:
While researching Cagle and Wilson lines with a Wilson cousin, I decided
to check my index for Cagle and Wilson marriages.
It appears there have been many unions between the Cagles and Wilsons so,
I decided to list them in hopes it might help someone
else of the Cagle or Wilson lines.
The following are Wilsons who married Cagles:
Arthur R Wilson and Levitta Cagle, Union Co., GA 1913
Ben Wilson and Ollie Mae Cagle, Dade Co., GA 1965, 2d marriage
Blanchy Wilson and Sophronia Cagle, Clay Co., IN 1913
Christine Wilson and Walter Wyndel Cagle, probably Georgia, abt 1939 **
Christine Wilson and William Kimzy Cagle, probably Cherokee Co., GA**
These are twin boys who apparently married the same girl.
I am going to have to check this out more thoroughly. I just noticed
this. Both are sons of James Jackson Cagle of Cherokee Co., GA.
Clementine Wilson and Valentine Cagle, your line.
Con D Wilson and Bertha Lou Cagle, probably MS, abt 1910
Elizabeth Ann Wilson and Benjamin Alexander Cagle, your line
Isaac W Wilson and Mary Delia Ann Cagle, 1885, TX
Katie Jane Wilson and Andrew Washington Cagle, AL, abt 1907, moved to
Texas
Lucinda J Wilson and John C Cagle, 1883, AL
Marie Wilson and Marshall Early Cagle, abt 1927, AR
Marjarie LaVerne Wilson and Joseph Eldridge Cagle, 1944, CA
*Martha Catherine Wilson and Lloyd Hiram Jr Cagle, your line*
Mary B Wilson and Adam Cagle, 1839, TN
*Matilda Wilson and Lloyd Hiram Jr Cagle, 1910, OK (do you know if there
were any children born of this union. Matilda is the sister
of Martha Catherine Wilson who was Lloyd Hiram's deceased first wife.
She married her sisters widowed husband and raised her
sisters children.
Pearl Estelle Wilson and John Robert Cagle, abt 1924, probably AL
Robert Wilson and Beulah Mae Cagle, abt 1914, MS
Robert Adam Wilson and Ida Ruth Cagle, 1912, TX
Sydney Thomas Wilson and Martha Elizabeth Cagle, 1949, LA
Talitha Wallace Wilson and Harmon Isaac Cagle, 1893, TX

Hello Kinfolk!
I want to thank you all for making me feel so welcome! I appreciate the info on W.U. Cagle.
The information I can contribute, such as it is, is given to me by Harry Lee Cagle, my father-in-law. Chester Winford Sr had three children by Bertie Dodson: Ernest Stein, Glenn Lee (who married Judy and had children Linda and Patrick), and Billy Joe Sr (who had Billy Joe Jr, JoAnne, and Tammy Jo). Chester Winford had five children by Edith Broglin: Flora Mae, Geraldona (known as Cupie-she had Leon, Willie, Sally, Dottie, Charlie, Harry, Timmy, and James (?) by husband whose name is no longer remembered), Chester Winford Jr. (who married Mildred Moore and had a son whose name is Winford-I am unsure if his full name is Chester Winford or not), and Harry Lee (who married Mary Hogan and had son Randy who married Susan Thoeming and had daughter Miranda Cagle). Is that confusing enough for ya?
The only source of confusion I have encountered is regarding Peter Cagle's father Jacob. I have encountered two possible paths of lineage for Jacob (but all roads lead to Rome, or in this case Leonhart). One is that Jacob was the child of Henry Cagle Jr, who was the child of William Cagle Sr, who was the child of Henry Cagle, son of Leonhart Kegel. The other is more direct...this Jacob is the child of Christopher (aka Christian) who was the child of the same Henry Cagle, son of Leonhart Kegel. I sure wish I could hop in the ole time machine and tell these people that it would make our jobs a whole lot easier if they didn't all name their kids Jacob (or Henry for that matter). The census data for that generation shows a whole heap of Jacob Cagles living in Moore County NC and in various TN counties as well. Does anyone know for sure which Jacob was Peter's dad?
Thanks again for the warm welcome. I plan to pick my father-in-law's mind for more details to pass along.
Hugs,
Susan Cagle

Lee hi this is LaMona here is the information for Ernest Eugene Cagle s/o Wm. Ulysses Cagle

Susan,
William Ulysses Cagle was born Feb. 13, 1869 in Cleveland, Tennessee. His
parents were Peter and Elizabeth Cagle. He had 4 brothers and 3 sisters.
According to age they were: Marion, Evaline, Henry, Becky, Jake, John,
Nancy, and then William.
He had 3 sons by his first wife, whom he later divorced. One son died
when he was small; one drowned at the age of 21; the third son is Chester
Cagle who lives in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
William married Daisy Aline Farris on Aug. 18, 1900, in Chattanooga,
Tennessee. They moved to Birmingham, Alabama, where their first four
children were born. In 1908 they moved to Memphis, Tennessee. Seven
children were born in Memphis.
He was around 6 ft tall, slender, had black hair, brown eyes and wore a
mustache.
When Dot was about 2 1/2 years old she wanted Daddy to shave his mustache
off. He always told her he would but didn't. One day she asked him and he
told her he would. He did, and when she saw him she cried "No, No, No,
put it back", and would not have anything to do with him for several
days. He did look funny without it.
He was a carpenter, painter and paperhanger. Everyone liked him. He was a
good father and husband. He made good money in the summer, but during the
winter his income was low. He always stocked food up for the winter. He
would buy a barrel of flour, one or two hundred pounds of sugar,
vegetables to can and fruit for jelly and preserves. At Christmas he sold
Christmas trees and holly wreaths.
When the children were small he would buy candy, and we would sit around
the fire at night while he played his violin, told stories and ghost
stories. The neighbor children enjoyed it too. In the summer we would
gather on the porch to listen to his playing and his stories.
He was the one who would get up at night if we had had dreams or became
ill. Of course Mama would get up if we were ill, but he was always the
first one to reach us. He always rocked the babies to sleep at night. He
was very affectionate, and we would sit in his lap most anytime, and he
would hug and kiss us.
He could be stern too; however, he didn't do much spanking. He would talk
to us and look so sad that we would have rather had the spanking.
He didn't drink, but always kept some whiskey in the house. If any of us
had colds he would make us a hot toddy, and he always made eggnog at
Christmas, and everyone that came to the house at Christmas had a cup of
it.
He died on May 3, 1935. He had some kind of Liver trouble. It could have
been Cancer, but we don't know. He was almost blind when he died. We had
his funeral at home. He knew so many people and had so many friends. Even
the negroes in the neighborhood came to see him and brought flowers out
of their yards. He was buried in Elmwood Cemetary in Memphis, TN.
I have considerably more on his second wife and their children, however,
very little on Cecilia Rogers
and her children. I would be happy to exchange additional information.
