I came in on the tale end of this message so I might be off-base on this.
I just wanted to send this site along in case it helps someone.
(I believe there are several Humphries on this list even though I didn't see
in which state 'mecrow' is looking.</A>)
Good luck, Neda in VA

I agree with Earl! I would love to read all about the Cagle men who served
our country! Since I saw only 2 responses on the list I assume that the
others replied directly to Earl. Please share your info with the rest of us
and post to the list!
This is probably a good time to remind everyone that on this list clicking
on the "reply" button sends the message ONLY to the original poster, in this
case Earl. If you want to send the message to the list as well you must
click "reply to all". So - if you sent info on this topic please go check to
see if you might have only shared with Earl and not the whole list.
Thanks!

Thanks to everyone for there reply's on this subject. I think there must
have been a few early Cagle men, who served in one way or another. It would
be a great deed to get them all documented and stored in our list archives.

Earl,
Years ago I obtained the pension application of Jacob Cagle, born in 1755 on
the head waters of Deep River and died in Warren County Tennessee, I think
in 1845. Apparently Henry was born before 1755, but he did die sometime
around 1802. He had a son William who was born ca 1754 who was still living
at age 96 in Sevier or Blount Co., TN in 1850. I have seen other records
where Leonard, Henry and Charles or John Cagle gave assistance to the
American cause during the revolution.

I am looking for information on Jeanie Marie Falice Cagle born mid to late 1940's. I am not sure of the spelling of her name. Her mother I believe to have been born in Holland. Her parents divorced and then her father was killed in a car crash. Any help much appreciated. Pat

Does anyone know the ancestry of these notable Cagles? :
1. Chris Cagle (b. 11-10-1968, Louisiana), current country music

Hi
This is what I have on them not much but maybe a little something in there.

Descendants of Leonard Cagle
Generation No. 1
1. Leonard3 Cagle (Charles2, (Leonhart Kegell ) Leonard1) was born 1770
in , Stanly, North Carolina, and died 1840. He married Susanna Tucker,
daughter of George Tucker and Maria Dorothea. She was born 1770.
Notes for Leonard Cagle:
This Leonard may have been another son of George Cagle 1750-1825??)
Both were over the age of 45 in 1820
1840 Paulding, GA.
Cagle, Leonard 100100001-000001020002 g.101 (1850 __?)
This is what it says under census information :
Some Cagle researdhers feel that Leonard Cagle of 1840 Paulding Co. was
identical to Leonard of 1830 Henry Co., p. 229; others feel that he was identical
to Leonard of 1830 Henry Co., p 204. The task of making the proper
identification is made more difficult by the fact that both Leonards of 1830 Henry were
in their 50s (b 1770-80). If the male in his 60s (b.1770s in the household of
Jephtha Cagle in 1840 Cobb Co. could be positively identified as Leonard of
p.229, 1830 Henry Census, it would suggest that the Leonard of 1840 Paulding
was identical to Leonard of p.204, 1830 Henry census. However, the weight of
evidence might seem to suggest that Leonard of 1840 Paulding was identical to
Leonard of p. 229, 1830 Henry census; perhaps the major factor to suggest this
identification is the location of Jacob Cagle in 1840 Paulding, near Leonard.
This Jacob, b. 1790s, is of the wrong age, and has children of the wrong age,
to have been the son of Leonard, p.204, 1830 Henry census. Rather, the Jacob
of 1840 Coweta Co.
corresponds properly in age to the son of Leonard, p.204 of 1830 Henry. Thus,
it might be suggested that
Leonard of 1840 Paulding was identical to Leonard (p.204 in 1830 Henry ) was
missed in the 1840 census. As will be seen on the following page, Leonard,
p.204, later teappeared in the 1850 census of Chattooga Co. GA., living adjacent
to Jacob Cagle who had been in 1840 Coweta.
(this info is from John G. Cagle's book.)
(I'm really confused maybe someone else can understand)
Children of Leonard Cagle and Susanna Tucker are:
2 i. John4 Cagle, born 1790.
3 ii. Isaac Cagle, born 1790.
4 iii. Jacob Cagle, born 1790 in North Carolina; died 1840 in
Paulding, Georgia. He married Margaret; born 1799 in North Carolina.
Notes for Jacob Cagle:
1840 Paulding, Ga.
Cagle, Jacob 0101101 - 0110101 Pg. 102 (d.1840s)
Notes for Margaret:
1850 Paulding, GA.
Cagle, Margaret, Widow 51 NC/$200 (p.087)
Benjamin 18 " Farmer
5 iv. Jeptha Cagle, born 1805 in North Carolina; died 1870 in ,

Earl,
This is probably part of my family.
About 1838, Henry Cagle, Jr, 1780-1857, (Leonard, David, Henry, Sr.), moved
from Hardin Co., TN to New Madrid Co., MO. When Henry Jr. died in 1857, he
had the following children:
John Cagle, Susan Cagle and Edna Deborah Cagle Smith living in Hardin Co.,
TN
Sarah Cagle Hulin living in Illinois and
George and Eliza Cagle living in New Madrid Co. MO.
In 1870, George Cagle, last above, age 45 was living in New Madrid Co. with
his children, a sister, a nephew and a grand kid or two. One of his sons
was John Cagle, b. Mar. 1853. John had a son George who was born in 1880.
The 1910 census of New Madrid Co. MO is as follows:
1910 Census New Madrid Co., MO
George Cagle 30 MO Morehouse MO.
Lutie 29 MO
John 5 TN
Martha 4 MO
Earl! Right now, guess I am next of kin :-)
I would like to correspond with members of this family. I know they didn't
fall off the edge of the earth.
David

GRAVES RELOCATED
Huneycutt Markers Moved Because of Highway Widening
Some of the families of the late John Asbury Huneycutt and Sylvia (Silvy)
Huneycutt were on hand recently to witness the relocation of their ancestors'
graves. The graves had to be moved because of the widening of Highway 24/27 near
Liberty Hill Church.
John and Sylvia Huneycutt were buried in the yard of Cromer and Polly Burris
when they died in the late 1870s. The Huneycutts had raised a large family in
this area, nine boys and three girls. Most of the family remained in western
Stanly and even today a very large number of the descendants still reside
within a few miles of the homeplace. At one time, John purchased 100 acres between
Red Cross and Stoney Run Creek. Records show that he sold for $1 the land for
the original Liberty Hill Primitive Baptist Church to be built on.
Grave plots were set aside for John and Sylvia to be buried in the cemetery
at the church, but until the state required that the graves be moved, they
remained in the Burris yard. A fieldstone marker, engraved with the information on
John, was the only proof that they were buried there.
Information passed down through the generations verified that John and Sylvia
were both buried there. John was born May 19, 1803 and died Oct. 11, 1878.
The search is ongoing to find the birth and death date of Sylvia. She was
still alive at the time of her husband's death. Sylvia was the daughter of
Charles Robert (Jan. 25, 1786-April 9, 1864) and Elizabeth Miranda Springer Cagle
(Jan. 14, 1789-Sep 11, 1861) and granddaughterof George and Rebecca Cagle.
Some of the descendants are having a tombstone erected using the fieldstone
embedded into it with the information engraved so furture generations can
locate and identify their ancestors. A speciall fund has been set up to pay for the
cost of the marker. Any descendant of John and Sylvia Huneycutt who would
like to help with a donation may contact Ned Huneycutt, Anabel Speight or Joel
Huneycutt at Locust Lumber Company.
John and Sylvia's children were : George Washington, William Riley, Charles
McKinley, Jack (John) Timothy, Fannie Caroline, Asbury Franklin, Ephriam E.,
Zebulon "Ebbin" M., Sylvia Symara, Mariah Priscilla, Levi Pressley and Eli
Filmore.
"Family heritage is so important in our lives. We all want to know where we
came from and by preserving this bit of history, we are preserving for our
future generations to have the information necessary to keep track of thie family
background," a spokesperson for the project said.
Nancy Jane,
I have an abstract of the will of John Huneycutt, wife Slyvia from Stanly Co.
NC if you want it. Isn't this Slyvia Cagle part of your Cagle family? I can
also send you the census info on this family and some marriages on them from
Stanly Co. NC.
The above article was sent to me by Tina Rogers Beller of Mississippi. She
thinks that John's mother was a ROGERS.
How are you doing? Have you got your blood count down again? Hope you have
and feel ok.
Have you gotten anything from NewtonCoFamiles lately?
I missed a message that went into my junk mail. I think it was from a new
cite and I didn't respond within three days, so am not getting anything at all
from the list. Don't guess it really matters, since I really don't connect to
any line from Newton Co.
Let me know if you want the other info on John Huneycutt family.

Hello list,
I would like to ask about the above name connection in AR. My grandmother was a GREEN born 1880 in Boone Co., AR. Her mother was a HILL and her grandmother was TABITHA ANN CAGLE. I am looking for a connection to why THOMAS GREEN would have left Alabama for AR and live there for about 7 years and I wonder if some of the CAGLE's were in AR doing 1870-188.
I haven't found any GREEN family that I can tie them to so I thought I would look for the HILL or CAGLE connection. Now that I have rambled on, I hope I made sense to all on the list.
Thanks,
Mollie Charles Pawlik
