I forgot to post this cemetery record :
Bible Records & Tombstone Inscriptions
by Jeanette Tillotson Acklen - 1933
She was the only Cagle, listed at this cemetery. No one knows how many
cemeteries in this country have been abandoned. How many stones have
been destroyed. How many names, dates, and other inscriptions erroded
away. Our ancestors graves were marked at one time. Wouldn't we love to
know when they were born & when they died?
Shiloh Cemetery
Sarah Cagle 1-28-1813 - 8-16 1869
I wonder if this cemetery was named after the Civil War battle at
Shiloh?
I also forgot to record where this cemetery was. It was in Tennessee,
but I didn't note the town or county. This was the last record I
recorded that day. My wife came by the Historical Society to pick me up,
and I was in a hurry.
Does anyone have any background on, Sarah?
Earl
While at the Historical Society I found one record with a possible
Cagle, reference.
This was a baptismal record at this church :
St. Michaels and Zion Congreation ( Lutheran )
This church was formerly at :
NE corner of 5th. & Appletree Alley
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Built 1743 - Demolished 1870
Ano 1754 Philadelphia
Dunckel, Johan Christian, son of Johan Michael and wife Anna Elisabeth (
Two years in America ) b. Aug. 20 Baptized Sept. 1. Sponsors Johan
Michael Kagele & Anna Maria, Christian Ott & Dorothea.
I haven't visited Philadelphia USGenWeb's site for awhile. However, they
now have many more records online. These include some marriages at the
same church. I found no Cagle, or varations of the name recorded. There
was this who may be the same Conrad Wagner, mentioned in the Lincoln Co;
NC deed book.
=====================================
1758
May 15, Conrad Wagener, widr, and An. Cath. Weitzel, wid.
======================================
Also I found these apparent Cagle, reference to marriages:
Pennsylvania German Marriages
From the book : Marriages & Marriage Evidence In Pennsylvania German
Churches.
Compiled by : Donna R. Irish
Rethers Reformed Church
Married by : Daniel Hertz
Kagel, Elizabeth to George Hack, 20 Sep 1835 Kagle, Daniel to Ragle
Brown ?, 6 May 1824
======================================
While on the subject of Phiadelphia, I want to re-post this. For the new
members not aware of Leonhart's arrival, to the Colonies.
His arrival along with many others, is recorded in : Pennsylvania German
Pioneers
A publication of the original lists of arrivals in the port of
Philadelphia. From 1727 to 1808
by Ralph Beaver Strassburger, L.L.D.
President of the Pennsylvania German Society.
Vol. 1 1717-1775
Pennsylvania German Society
Norristown, Pennsylvania 1934
List 24C Palatines imported in the ship Loyal Judith, of London, Robert
Turpin, Master. Qualified : 25 Sep 1732.
Leonhart Kegell
Also mentiond are a few other Cagle's, but I didn't write them all down.
These all have been posted in the past, and can be found in the list
archives. I did jot down this one :
Thomas Kegel & Son on the ship :
"Little Cherub " 18 Oct 1805
This was all of the records I copied while at the Historical Society. I
did copy some Davidson Co; Tennessee Marriage Records. However, these
have been posted a few times already. So at this time I give my fingers
some rest.
Earl
Nancy Jane,
I finally got through the last of the California Cagle deaths. I
probably found a total of about
150 death dates, and found descendants of several by the mother's
maiden, the father's surname, along with date and place of birth.
I was slow going but well worth it.
Thanks for posting this to the list.

I picked up a book at the Historical Society, called Genealogical
Abstracts From Tennessee Newspapers, by Sherida K. Eddleman.
I checked the index and there were these for Cagle :
Jackson Gazette published by Charles D. McLean. 10-22-1825 Vol. 11 No 21
List of letters remaining at the post office at Jackson on 9-30-1825
per. Sam Taylor.
Martin G. Cagle
4-5-1828 Vol. 4 No. 43
Letters left at the Jackson post office 4-01-1828
Isaac Cagle
Letters left at the Lexington post office 7-01-1828. J.C. Walker Post
Master
Isaac Cagle
I checked and Jackson, Tn; is in Madison Co. Lexington, Tn; is Henderson
Co.
Another bit of data I found was :
New Jersey Wills 1689 - 1890
Gottlieb Kagle Hudson Co; NJ P.8 1875
In the past we have talked of a Cagle / Wagoner connection. This data I
found in a deed book helps make the connection :
Lincoln Co; N C Deed Book 20: 104-30
August 1800
Heirs of Conrad Wagoner (d.25 Mar 1799) quit their claim to the land;
William Christopher, Conrad (JR) and Michael, his sons; Henry Keagle,
Jacob Zieger, Jacob Hartle, Bulser Hofman, his sons-in-law; Eva Wagoner,
widow, all sign for the 204 acres contract purchased
1 Feb 1785.
I checked the 1790 Lincoln Co; NC; census online and there is a Conrad
Wagoner, listed.
If this is our Henry Cagle, son of Leonhart, brother of David, then it
says he was a son -in-law to Conrad Wagoner.
Henry Cagle, left his will in Moore Co; NC; in 1802. This deed book
entry may lead to other clues on this connection
Earl
Good information, Earl.
Thanks, Lee

The LDS History Centers also have microfilm available for Military Records.
We used to have to go to a National Archives Branch to view these. They also
have the Revolutionary War Pension and Widow's Pension records. I do not
remember call numbers, etc. but it is pretty easy to find which film to order
on the History Center's computers.

Hello Cagle Researchers,
Diana, and I just got back from a couple of days in Columbia, Mo. Had a
nice vist with some of our family members. I see the list has been going
along smoothly. Welcome to all the new members who have joined us. The
Cagle list, finished it's third year on the net in November. We have
some very good researchers on the list always there to help.
Of course I made a stop at the Historical Society in Columbia. I picked
up a few new interesting Cagle, tid bits. Tomorrow I will share them
with everyone. We have been having a nice vaction. (Hope nobody escaped
from the prison while I was gone -:)

That wonderful old map site you found for us has a little town named 'Lamona'
in Lincoln County not too far from 'Earl' in Washington State. Our Cagles
homesteaded in Earl, and John Franklin Cagle became the postmaster for Earl
at its inception. I quote from his daughter, Annie Jane Cagle Cole: "In
1883 Mr. John Cagle, wife and 3 children and his wifes Father, Mother,
Brothers Charlie Alvin and Sister Eva started west in covered wagons Fording
streems and unworked road over valley and mountain and Deserts. They
journied west to the Big Bend country in Lincoln Co. They were pioneers there
and went 100 miles to Cheney for mail and Groceries. No dr. nearer than 100
miles......in 1896 father became Post Master [in Earl] until 1908 when we
sold and move to Chelan and raised fruit." John Franklin Cagle's wife was
Flora McMillen.
Annie's 8-page, handwritten account (written June, 1949) is great and I'd be
happy to provide a copy to anyone who wants one. Snailmail or fax works best
for me.

I know this has been hashed out before but I want to make sure that I have
it right now.
John "Dutchman" Cagle had a son, Jacob, born ca. 1766. Where?
John's brother, Johan Theobald Dewalt Kegel aka David, also had a son,
Jacob, b. Apr 1755 in Rowan Co, NC.
He in turn had a son, Jacob, b. abt. 1775 in Moore Co, NC. Right?
Did Leonard Kegel also have a son Henry who also had a son Jacob?
Whew!
