I was recently told a story that has passed down in the family of one branch
of Charles H. Cagle (1824-1908) of Louisville, MS. Charles was the son of
Leonard Cagle (1798-1866). I had never heard this story and hope that it
provides a clue into the ancestry of these Cagles:
A great granddaughter of Charles said that he told her this story when she
was a child. (Think she would have been about 10-12 years old). His father
came to NC from Holland and that there was a family named VanCleve on the
same boat.
Either Charles or the child apparently gave the immigrant the wrong
generation, but the story "fits" closely with other Cagle beginnings. To my
knowledge, this is the only story Charles ever told about his ancestors - at
least, it is the only one I have ever heard about.
Can someone refresh my memory on the names of some of those ships that the
early Cagles took to America? I recall Royal Judith but not the others. I am
going to try to find a VanCleve and a Cagle on the same ship.

I have 14 Roy Cagles in my index. Some are from NC; however, none with Shirley Grey or Cassandera. You really need to
learn a little more. Perhaps, you know when your father was born and where. If not, then you could write to the state where
he is last known to live (assuming he is dead) for a copy of the death certificate.
You are certainly on the right tract. Most of the members of the Cagle list are descended from Cagle/Kegels who arrived at
Philadelphia from Rotterdam, via Germany.
You are certainly one of the cousins.

P.S. If you are able to connect these Cagles to the larger Cagle line, please let me know, I would certainly want to include them
in my index for future reference for others who may be researching the same line.
I am looking for any information about Andrew Jack Cagle and his wife Mary Lou Baldy. Andrew Jack was born 17 Jul 1872 and died 26 Jul 1951 in Alabama. I am looking for any information without much information to give - sorry. Does anyone know of any Marion Jacob Cagel's, don't really have a lead to follow, so will look at any Marion leads. I know that he married or possibly not married Lucille Margaret Little (possibly Margaret Lucille Little) and they had a child, a female named Nita Jo Cagel, she was born about 1942. Marion did not remain with Little for long and really had no contact with his daughter from very early on. We believe that Marion Cagle lived in California at least in the 1960's possibly in Pismo Beach California. The Cagle daughter (Nita) died just a few weeks ago of liver cancer and her three daughters are now trying to find out about the health history of Marion Cagel because of their children and the risk factors of inherited disease. Nothing is known about the health history of Marion Cagel, but the doctor has told them that it would be very good if they could find out if he is still alive and if !
not, what he may have died from or the health issues that may be in the family. Thank you for any information or leads that I might get from anyone, anywhere - no lead would be too small to follow, even another Marion Cagel would be something to check up on. Thanks for anything

I have a pic of 3 Cagle Brothers, it says they are Leonard C. Cagle
1854-1929, Littleton Young Cagle Jr. 1852-1940, and William Cagle 1849-1929,
but has conflicting names on back as to who is who. Have my site
working...kinda...takes a while to load, and am working on it. But have a
bunch of Cagle pics (120) some old and some more recent of our yearly
reunion in Jackson County, Alabama. here is the link if you are interested.
