wondering. Thanks,

Elaine & List,
No, this list is for Cagle's from anywhere. We
sometimes talk of a paticular state, like Tennessee.
This line of Leonhart Kegel, follows he and his ancestors from Germany
to America.
Like most any other family line they migrated from the east.
There were many family groups that settled in Tennessee. But the same
can be said for Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Kentucky, Missouri,
Mississipi, etc.

Who are these people? It appears that they should tie in with
Robert Cagle, Sr. (b. 1873 NC; d. bef 1857 Decatur Co., TN) and would,
therefore, be part of my hubby's line. I'm especially curious about
Nancy Cagle and the circumstances leading up to the murder trial.
Thx for sharing, David!
Best,
SueB
Howdy Elaine,
Not at all. Seems the TN Cagles are more active right now. If you have a question, just submit
it to the List and I am sure someone can help you. Or, you might post your own ancestors and
be surprised to learn you have cousins who belong to the list.

Sharon, my Craig line went to Williamson County, Illinois, after leaving
Perry County, Tennessee. Sorry, I really wish we had a connection. Neither
my Craig or Cagle ancestors seem to belong anywhere!

Liz,
George was the son of Henry Cagle, Sr., b. ca 1760, g/son of David Cagle.
b. 1728 Ger. George Cagle, came to Hardin Co., TN ca 1825 from Cabarrus
Co., NC. In 1838, George and his family moved to New Madrid Co., MO where
he was killed by a falling tree in 1839. His family moved back to Hardin
Co., TN in 1840.
Do you have any information on George and his family?

Hello everyone,
I am wondering if Henry Cagle b. 1768 had a son named George that married
Nancy Elizabeth Freeman? I'd appreciate finding out where this George goes.
If anyone knows, please contact me.
Thanks,
Liz Cagle
Hi Karen Toellner, Did your Craig family leave Tennessee for Louisiana? I
have a Lawrence Craig, b. 1854 LA married Kisiah Cagle on June 6, 1878 in
Catahoula Parish, LA in the residence of William Cagle. They had a son named
Leonard Craig b. 1878-1879. Thanks, Sharon Harris Ayer
Hi David,
This information really caught my eye! Do you have any more details you can
share, or can you give me the source of your info? The Robert Craig named
here in Nancy Cagle's trial was most likely my 2nd great grandfather, Robert
Craig of Perry County, TN. Robert's wife was my ever-elusive Serena Cagle,
b. ca. 1820. I'm still trying to determine her parentage.
Thanks for any help you can give.

These names were found in a bible belonging to a great aunt. I have a few
dates and I know my ancestors were living around Sevier and Blount County,
Tennessee. Any help would be appreciated on the Cagle or Gibson side of

I don't have any information on George Wellington Cagle, but my great grandfather, George William Wellington died in Tyler Texas around 1872. I am looking for any information on him. Do you know if the name of Wellington came from the mother's side of your ancestor? Would appreciate any info.
Thanks,

property as one unit.<
My hubby is descended from Elizabeth Cagle and Porter Gibson (b.
1827). I have no found no record of Elizabeth ever having been
married to a Roger. Roger Gibson was her brother-in-law and both her
husband and he were children of Roger Gibson (b.c. 1769). Because of
the date factor, my guess is that the Roger mentioned above is likely
the younger (b.c. 1832). I would think that Porter likely sold their
share to his brother.
From the Decatur Co., TN Chancery Court records, pg. 98-99:
"....Complainant further shows that after the death of the said
Robert Cagle Sen., the said David Cagle and the said Elizabeth and her
Husband the said Porter Gibson sold and conveyed their Respective
interests and shares in the said 110 acres of Land to the said H.C.
Cagle and afterwards the said H.C. Cagle sold and conveyed all his
interest and share in said Land to Complainant and thereby Complainant
has become the owner of and is entitled to three-fifths of said tract
of Land...."
Hope this helps to clarify this family group a little!
Best,
SueB
