Sorry for the delay in responding to your helpful messages - I have been out
of town. This is what I have on this family:
ROBERT COSTILOE was the son of EUEL COSTILOE & EULULIA CAGLE. Eululia was the
daughter of CHARLES H. CAGLE of Louisville, MS.
ROBERT COSTILOE, b 10 June 1895 in I.T; d 7 April 1968 in Berkley, CA.
Married ETHEL ROUNDSVILLE 1918, Johnston Co., OK. Children all born Coleman
(Johnston Co.) OK:
1. Ottis (Ott) Costiloe, b 17 Jan 1920; d 2 Feb 1945. Killed during WW II
2. Lorene Costiloe, b 26 Jan 1922. Married Jack Dennis.
3. Robert, b abt 1924; d 1969.
4. Billy Joe, b 22 May 1927; d 1990
The CHARLES C. CALLAWAY you mention was the father of Zadoc who was the first
husband of RUTH COSTILOE. Zadoc’s mother was Martha Thomas who died around
1920. I assume that the Ida buried next to Charles was his second wife.
Also buried in the Coleman Cemetery are:
EUEL LANSING COSTILOE b 5 Apr 1857 Winston Co., MS; d 15 March 1931 and his
wife, EULULIA CAGLE COSTILOE, b 5 March 1859 Winston Co., MS; d 15 March
1929. Buried with them is a grandson, JACK CALLAWAY, b 5 Nov 1922; d 5 Oct
1923. Also buried someplace in that same cemetery with missing marker is:
SAMUEL WRAGG COSTILOE, b and d 1899. He was the son of Eululia and Euel
Costiloe.
I knew a number of Roundsville’s growing up but am not sure how they were all
related. I do know that Ethel Roundsville’s parents and the Euel Costiloe’s
were neighbors and friends. Ernest was Ethel’s brother.
Dana Meara
A bit more on possible CAGLE kin in Coleman, Johnston Co., OK:
Ethel ROUNDSVILLE/ROUNSAVILLE COSTILOE is buried Coleman Cemetery. Her
gravestone reads born Jan 5, 1894, died Jan 6, 1929. Buried near to her,
possibly her children, are Sgt. Ottis Lee COSTILOE, 35th Air Div, US Marines,
born Jan 17, 1920, died Feb 2, 1945; and Lorene COSTILOE DENNIS b. Jan 26,
1922. Lorene and Jack DENNIS were married June 11, 1939. (There were flowers
on all 3 graves on March 14th.)
Charles CALLOWAY, born Sept 3, 1872, died July 25, 1938, and Ida CALLOWAY,
born July 19, 1880, died Dec 31, 1964, are also buried at Coleman Cemetery.
Nothing states they were man and wife, but their stones are identical and are
next to each other. Flowers on these graves also. Were these two related to
Ruth Elvira COSTILOE and her husband Zadoc CALLOWAY?
Ernest Harris ROUNSAVILLE b. Dec 7, 1886, m. 1st Ela _____, d. Mar 6, 1960.
Their children:
Viola Faye b. Sept 19, 1907, Wapanucka, OK, m. Claude Clifford Yates, d. May

A son b. 1919.
Clifford L. b. Sep 22, 1913, m. Audrey Donaldson Nov 3, 1935, d. July 15,

Grady b. before 1924.
Ernest Harris ROUNSAVILLE m. 2nd Elzora _____.
Their children:
Ernest Verdell , b. Jan 19, 1926, m. June 15, 1948 to Gracie ____, d. Aug 8,
1985.
Willie Bryan.
(I am told Elzora, at age 101, recently moved from her home to a nursing home
in Tishomingo, Johnston Co, OK.)
Zannie Newell b. May 15, 1885 (Uncle Zannie), and his wife Mary M. _____ b.
Dec 24, 1889, d. Aug 3, 1971 (Known as Aunt Mary, and also as Mammy
Rounsaville.) The people I asked aren't sure how Mary was related to the
Rounsaville family.
My cousin said that the father of Billy Joe COSTILOE, who lived, or at least
spent time at Coleman, OK, lived in CA.
At least the following ROUNSAVILLEs are buried at Coleman Cemetery:
Audrey (Donaldson) Wife of Clifford L.
Clifford L. Son of Ernest Harris Rounsaville & wife Ela.
Ela 1st wife of Ernest Harris Rounsaville.
Ernest Harris Husband of Ela, and later, of Elzora
Ernest Verdell Son of Ernest Harris Rounsaville & wife Elzora

Hope something here is useful to someone.

I don't recall seeing this before. I think there is probably a mistake
in the name of the Cemetery, it is probably Boar Tusk. I can't
imagine someone naming a Cemetery, Boar "Tush".

Hello Everyone,
In the last few days I have received letters in
complaint, of some companies.
Genealoy.Com, and Family Tree Maker, are
being accused of using data without permision.
If you have proof that they, are or even suspect
they are, then don't use their services.
No one wants to spend hours at a courthouse,
searchng for records, or poring over census
microfilm, just to have their work used unfairly.
I have suported free genealogy on the internet,
for several years now.
In closing your original work is protected by
our United States Copyright Laws.
If your work has been used without your permission then consult a
lawyer.
The best thing to do is not to use these sites.
However, we also must remember being accused of something and being
guilty, are two different words.

Notes for William Henry Cagle:
The information regarding the family of William and Cora, I received from
Janet Calhoun in Arab, AL.
She is related to the Jones'. She wrote the following: "I tried to get
the children of Will and Cora today from my mother. She is 85 and has
times that her memory is not good. She came up with the following from
memory only. Atha Mae, E. J., Harvey and Lester. On the back of a picture
I have, I found Odis and Romea along with Harvey. The picture was made at
Princeton, AL. I also have another picture of Harvey and Lester Cagle.
All of them are beautiful children. The boys have on knickers which dates
them about the 19'teens or 20s?? I have lots more William Cagle family
pictures. My mother has two younger sisters who might be able to furnish
more information on Cora's children. I personally do not know any of
William and Cora's descendants, maybe my two aunts do.
The source of my information is my grandfather, John Deemer Jones, the
Jones family Bible; grave stones, and the Lincoln County marriage book."

Reference AUGUSTUS CAGLE, marriage to Ann Hart, 19 Oct 1871, Cleburne
Co., AL
1. Augustus6 Cagle (Benjamin Franklin5, Leonard4, John3, Johan Theobald
Dewalt2, Leonhart1 Kegel) was born 13 April 1852 in Haralson County,
Georgia, and died 25 October 1920 in Newnan, Coweta County, Georgia. He
married (1) Sabra Anne Hart 18 October 1871 in Cleburne County, Alabama,
daughter of Samuel Hart and Helena Pruitt. She was born 13 October 1851
in Paulding Co., (later Haralson) Georgia, and died 12 September 1904 in
Walker's Chapel, DeKalb Co., AL. He married (2) Jane Adeline Manley 21
November 1891 in Travis County, Texas, daughter of Vincent Manley and
Permelia Shaw. She was born 06 January 1848 in Coweta County, GA, and
died 19 February 1930 in Newnan, Coweta, Georgia.
Notes for Augustus Cagle:
Augustus grew up in Haralson County, Georgia where he learned penmanship
and art from his brothers
Samuel and Benjamin. By 1880, he was listed on the US Federal Census with
wife Sabriane (Sabra
Anne) Hart along with children Jasper Luther age 7, Caroline Vastia age 4
and John Robert age 6months.
They lived in a log cabin along highway 100 which had originally been
built by his Grandfather Leonard
Cagle. His brother Jessie also, lived nearby with his young family.
Augustus engaged in the purchase and sale of farms in the area. He is
thought to have purchased the farm of his sister's when they sold and
moved to
Alabama since records indicate he bought a farm in that area near the
date of his sister's removal to
Alabama. By the 1900 Census, he had an additional two daughters, Dora E,
born 1884 and Laura E, born
1887 but he was no longer with the family. The 1900 Census has the family
living in DeKalb County
Alabama with Sabra Anne as head of the family. Jasper Luther had married
by this time and was living
on the farm with all the children as well as his new wife and son.
Sometime between 1887and 1900
Augustus had left the family, moving to Travis County, Texas to seek new
opportunities. A letter was
received from Benjamin Jr, Augustus' brother advising the family that
Augustus had been killed in an
accident. His family believed him dead. It develops that he did, in fact,
go to Travis County, Texas accompanied by one Jane Adaline Manley, alias
"Adaline Amanuel" whom he married in Texas shortly after leaving Georgia.
Marriage records in Travis County indicate they were married on 21 Nov
1891. It is certain this is the same Augustus, since he and Ben were
involved in business transactions together in the Travis County area.
More About Augustus Cagle:
Burial: 26 October 1920, Oak Hill Cemetery, Newnan, Coweta Co., Georgia
Census 1: 1860, Haralson Co., GA w/Parents at age 8 yrs.
Census 2: 1870, Haralson Co., GA w/parents at age 18 yrs.
Census 3: 1880, Haralson Co., GA w/Sabra Anne & 3 Ch.
Census 4: 1900, Fayette Co., GA w/Adaline
Census 5: 1910, Coweta Co., GA Newnan Dist, w/Adaline
Census 6: 1920, Coweta Co., GA Newnan Dist, w/Adaline
Medical Information: Chronic Nephietis with complications of heart.Death
Cert signed by Dr D. A. Haney of Newnan, GA
Notes for Sabra Anne Hart:
Sabra Anne "Sally" first appeared on the 1860 Census for Paulding Co., GA
at age 8 yrs as "Sally" with
her parents Samuel & Hellena. The 1870 Census of Cleburne Co., AL found
her still with her parents
at age 18 years, but by 1880 she had married Augustus Cagle and was
listed in his household with
three children, Jasper Luther-7, Caroline Vastia-4 and John Robert- 6
months and living on the home place of Benjamin Cagle in Haralson Co., GA
about 3 miles north of Tallapoosa on Hwy 100. The
Census record listed her as Sabrianne which phonetically would be the
pronunciation in Alabama.
The 1900 Census of DeKalb County, Alabama, lists her name as Sobra A.
with the same three children
plus Dora E and Laura E. Augustus was missing from the Census and thought
to be with his brother
in Texas. Prior to leaving for Texas, Augustus moved the family to DeKalb
Co., AL, bought a farm
and a General Store with a grist mill where he taught his eldest son
"Luke" the business. He was later
reported killed in an accident in Texas. His brother, Benjamin Jr
verified the report and everyone thought
that was the end of Augustus. Sabra Anne is thought to have lived another
4-8 years after the 1900
Census. Sabra Anne probably died between 1904 and 1908. This date is
suggested by a brief biography of Jasper Luthur Cagle, who states he
moved to Texas in 1907 following the death of his mother. This is further
substantiated by the birth of a child in 1906 in Alabama and the next
child 1908 in Coleman County, Texas. The break-up of the family unit
seems to have occurred at this time, with Jasper moving to Texas, John
Robert moved out on his own about 1905. Nothing is known of the three
sisters, Vastia Caroline, Dora E and Laura E, following the apparent
death of their mother. The last census in which Sabra Anne appears is in
the Walker's Chapel District, thus she is probably buried in this area
which is near six miles from Ft Payne, AL in DeKalb County.

Notes for Jane Adeline Manley:
Jane's first public record is the 1850 US Fed Census of Coweta Co., GA,
19th Div #54. This listing has
her listed with her Grandmother, Sara Shaw. Also in the household is
Jane's mother, Permelia Shaw age 19, Her Aunt Louiza H. Shaw at age 11,
and a Betsy A Manly at age 10yrs. The 1860 US Fed Census
for Coweta listing the Sarah Shaw family includes her daughter Permelia
Shaw (should be Manley),
Elizabeth A Shaw who would be Betsy A Manley in the 1850 Census, Georgia
is Permelia's daughter
who should be Manley. It is not known who Amazona might be, perhaps
somehow related to Elizabeth.
For some unknown reason, Jane Adaline Manley who would have been 12 yrs
of age is not listed on
this census.
Adaline Amanuel who married Augustus Cagle in 1891 in Travis County Texas
is Jane Adaline Manley.
I. P. (Irvin Patrick) Manley is her brother and also, the person who
furnished the information appearing on Augustus' death Certificate
indicating that August Cagle was married to Adaline Cagle, that his
occupation was peddler and his birthplace, name of father or mother and
their birthplace was unknown. Augustus, Jane Adeline, Irvin P. Manley and
his wife, Talula are buried in Oak Hill Cemetery, Newnan, Coweta County,

Van Jackson Abt. 1904 in Ft Payne, DeKalb, Alabama; born 30 October 1883
in Ft Payne, DeKalb, Alabama; died 15 July 1982 in Pawhuska, Osage,
Olahoma.
Notes for John Robert Cagle:
The US Fed Census of Haralson County, GA for 1880, which was taken in
April, lists John with his father, Augustus and mother, Sabra Anne,
indicating Jasper Luther as 7 yrs old, Vastia Caroline as 4 yrs old and
John Robert as 6 months. The US Fed Census of DeKalb County for 1900,
again lists him with his mother, sisters, and brother, Jasper Luther, who
was married by this time to Lucinda Dutton. This census shows him as
single and 19 yrs old. Grandpa was born in a log cabin constructed by his
father on the old Benjamin Franklin Cagle (ca. 1819) homestead which
still stands along the highway in Haralson Co. Grandpa was a quiet man
not known for idle chit-chat. He was about 5'7", in stocking feet and
probably never weighed over 150 lbs. He had jet black hair as a young man
and blue eyes that were
so light in color that he appeared, in black and white pictures, to have
no eyes. His nature was rather
gruff but, he spoke quietly, so quiet, in fact that he seemed to mumble.
He never failed to say grace at
meals, yet I never knew him to go to church. He wore an old felt hat,
usually pulled down over his
forehead to protect his hairless scalp. What he lacked in hair on his
head, he made up for with hair
under his nose in the form of a big bushy mustache. He had the kind of
face that Norman Rockwell
would have loved to paint. We all loved him but, cut him a wide swathe.
He kept an old razor strop
which I never seen him use but, it was always in plain view and served as
a deterrent to would be trouble makers. I don't think Grandpa liked me.
Maybe, he didn't like any of the grand kids, well, maybe Helen.
The rest of us stayed just beyond reach, ready to take flight at any
moment. Grandpa had a lame leg
and couldn't run very fast which served as my salvation more than once.
The old log cabin originally constructed by Benjamin, Grandpa's
grandfather and where the first three
children of Augustus were born is still standing along Highway 100 at the
15 mile marker on the East
side of the highway. It is currently owned by the Mayor of Tallapoosa and
is used by hunters. The walls
appear to be about 14 inches thick and the logs are square 14 x 14. It
has a nice stone fire place and
chimney. Benjamin and Parthena are buried about a mile from the cabin
along the same highway.
When Grandpa would get angry about something and go stomping off, Grandma
would say, "That hard-
headed Olde German" so, I thought his mumbling was German, turned out it
was just mumbling. Grandma
said Grandpa always had an eye for the ladies and wasn't nearly as quiet
when they were about the
place, though I never saw any of this. Could it be, Grandma was just
jealous? Grandpa and Grandma
had a disagreement over the youngest daughter which resulted in them not
sleeping nor speaking
together for nearly 20 years. Finally, in their old age they relented and
became quite affectionate.
Grandpa had practically no education though, I think he could read a
newspaper or maybe he just wanted
us to think he could, anyway I have seen him appearing to read but, never
commenting about what he read. Grandpa was a farmer and part-time
railroad worker. He could to make anything grow. He always had the best
looking flower beds and vegetable garden in town. When Grandpa bought his
place,
it was in the country but, the town grew up around him. Until shortly
before his death, he still had his
cow, pigs, chickens, geese, vegetable garden and Orchard. We moved in on
one corner of his property and built a house; however, Grandpa retained
title to the land. As far as I know, Dad never paid Grandpa anything for
the use of the land. This might be why Grandpa didn't seem to like Dad
much. Grandpa was a hard worker and continued working until shortly
before his death. I could probably write a book about Grandpa, yet when I
think about him, I don't think I really knew him, that's too bad.
These are some remarks from my Cousin Helen's perspective regarding
Grandpa.
I guess grandpa Cagle could have been 5'7" at one time before his
arthritis,
but one of the things I remember very well was he was shorter than me
when I
was 16. I was 5'7" then and I would guess he was 5'5" or possibly 5'6".
(Oh,
by the way, I absolutely adored grandpa and we would sit out on the porch
in
the evenings and talk quite a bit) (you were right about his sounding
gruff
but wasn't too, because I heard that he never spanked his children.
Grandma
did. He adored Grandma.

6 v. Laura Ellen Cagle, born 07 May 1887 in Haralson Co., GA or DeKalb
Co., AL. She married Thomas Webb.
Notes for Laura Ellen Cagle:
Laura Ellen was born in Haralson Co., GA or DeKalb Co., AL. The census
for 1900 DeKalb Co., AL shows
her birth as AL; however, it wasn't that unusual for census takers to
assume children were born in the
county and state of the census. Laura was a minor at the time of her
mothers death on 12 Sep 1904.
Financial guardianship was awarded to James H White, a neighbor of the
Cagles during the time in
which the estate of her mother remained in probate. She reached the age
of consent in May 1908;
however, she married prior to her legal age of consent and guardianship
was relinquished on 17 January
1907. Jasper Luther Cagle, continued as administrator of his mothers
estate until Sep 1916 at which
time he tallied up expenses less assets and finished probate dividing the
shares equally among the
five children. Laura is thought to have married Thomas Webb who was best
friends with James M
Teague and signed the marriage bond for Teague and Dora Cagle in 1904.
Laura also, signed her
acknowledgement of receipt for settlement of accounts regarding her
mother's estate as Laura Webb.
Notes for Thomas Webb:
I found a Thomas Webb on the SSDL #419-05-3629 who was born 31 Dec 1878
and died Mar 1966.
He last resided at 36201 Anniston, Calhoun Co., AL. He might be the husb
of Laura Cagle.

Jennifer,
Yes, there is a Cagle website :
http://www.familyshoebox.com/family/cagles
I included a new page at my site called:
Family Album
Jennifer, if you haven't used my site before,
you have to become a participant.
You just pick a screen name you want to use,
and a password. This allows you to post data
on the Cagle website.
When you post something you are given
options on how it is published.
You can publish with just text, text and weblinks, text & photo's etc.
On the publishing page there is a clickable bar,
that lists different options.
I am on webtv, thefore I can't publish files, jpg.
gif. etc. Unlike a computer webtv has no memory storage.
If you have photos in a file on your computer,
then you can upload them to the Cagle Family
Website.
There is a learning curve but it isn't too hard.
The site is for all members of our list to use.
If you or anyone have questions, I will try to help.

My husband and I are traveling to Germany on Monday the 26th. We will be
flying into Frankfurt, and we will rent a car so we can have freedom to
move around. We are going to Munich and perhaps Prague. I recall that
someone on the list has visited the area in Germany (I think it is
Sembach?) where Leonard CAGLE lived before coming to America. I would
really appreciate any information anyone has about this area - where it
is in relation to a larger city, any records I might see, etc. We only
have a week, so I don't know whether I can get to Sembach or not - but I
would like to very much.
My line is "old" Leonard CAGLE; his son Henry, b. abt 1730; and Henry's
daughter Caterena, who married Joseph Cockman. Caterana Cagle Cockman is
my 4th great grandmother.
Thanks for any help on this.

Hello all,
Ancestery, has gotten around to adding Hickman Co; to their 1851-1900
Tennessee
Marriage Database.
These are some from Tom Cagle's, and my
family:
Earl
---------------------------------------------------------------
CAGLE CHARLES BLACKWELL SARAH
6 May 1871 Hickman TN
CAGLE MILES CAGLE MARY ANN
9 Oct 1871 Hickman TN
CAGLE SAMUEL CAGLE FERIBY
23 Jan 1871 Hickman TN
CAGLE THOMAS CHANDLER SARAH C.
13 Jan 1869 Hickman TN
COBLE WILLIAM R.
CAGLE SARAH ELIZABETH
30 Nov 1863 Hickman TN
GUNTER JOHN T. CAGLE SUSAN A.
14 Dec 1873 Hickman TN
The above couple were my g-grandparents.
There was a slight error with her name on the
marriage record. Her full name was, Susannah
Jane Cagle b. 2-21-1849 Hickman Co; Tn.
She died on 12-08-1913 in Perry Co; Tn.
Also she was born 98 years to the day before me. ( We share the same
birthday)
She was a daughter of Thomas Cagle Sr.
b. 6-02-1814, Hickman Co; Tn; and
Rachel Chessor b. 10-19-1818, Hickman Co.

My husband and I are traveling to Germany on Monday the 26th. We will be
flying into Frankfurt, and we will rent a car so we can have freedom to move
around. We are going to Munich and perhaps Prague.
I recall that someone on the list has visited the area in Germany (I think it
is Sembach?) where Leonard CAGLE lived before coming to America. I would
really appreciate any information anyone has about this area - where it is in
relation to a larger city, any records I might see, etc. We only have a week,
so I don't know whether I can get to Sembach or not - but I would like to
very much.
My line is "old" Leonard CAGLE; his son Henry, b. abt 1730; and Henry's
daughter Caterena, who married Joseph Cockman. Caterana Cagle Cockman is my
4th great grandmother.
Thanks for any help on this.

Its about 40 miles north by northwest of Kieserslatern. I typed it into
my web browser (I have aol) and
it pulled up a map and several pictures of the town which is very quaint.
Try it, you will enjoy looking
around.

as far as I know his siblings were Victoria, Robert, and Columbus. My mom
says she remembers an uncle Columbus but not much more because she said her
father didn't talk much about his dad (George Washington) because he was so
mean to them and at an early age my grandfather, James David, ran away from
home.

Hi, Angie. I am so glad I could help. You contacted me off-line, but
Earl prefers discussions to go on in public, just in case someone else
has a similar family line to follow. But it was nice to hear from you,
and I am thrilled you got some answers.
I am going to list as many of the references as I can, where your family
appears. Please keep in mind that there may be references I miss
accidentally. Starting from the closest first:
George Washington Cagle was son of Sara Minerva Grogan & Henry Foster
Cagle
Sara Minerva (Grogan) Cagle married Henry Foster Cagle (Henry's second
wife - his first died) on November 17, 1874 according to Cherokee Co.
Marriage Book D, page 199. Sara is buried on the cemetery lot of her
son George Washington Cagle, at Hickory Flat. Sara's dates, according
to cemetery plot, are Nov 3, 1851 - August 18, 1924.
Henry Foster Cagle's dates are ca 1836 or 1837 - Feb. 1, 1901. Bought
his father's land in Cherokee County, Hickory Flat area, in 1880.
Married Nancy Barrett. With her, Henry apparently had 3 children, John
Henry, James J. & Indianna [sic] C. Cagle. It seems Henry & Nancy had
another child, Marcus, who died before 1880. Nancy died in early
1870's. In 1874 he married Sara. On January 5, 1880, court granted
Henry F. guardianship of his children by his first wife. It appeared
they inherited a sizable estate from their mother. Most of these
children migrated in adulthood to Texas, as did several of Henry's own
brothers & sisters.
Henry Foster Cagle was a private in Company C. 42nd regiment of the GA
infantry during the Civil War. He enlisted March 4, 1862, and was
discharged on April 12, 1862 for an unspecified disability. Then in
1863 he enlisted in the Cherokee Legion, a home guard unit. It
consisted of men under 17 or over 45, or men with disabilities.
I see no other mentions of people with the name Grogan in John G.
Cagle's book. However, I checked the Marlin History of Cherokee County
also. There are 3 Grogan's mentioned, but only in the context that 3
men by that last name are listed as being members of the Confederate
Army during the Civil War.
Henry F. Cagle was the son of Jacob Cagle and Eliza Robbins.
Jacob Cagle, ca. 1805 - 1880's.
Jacob married Eliza Robbins in Hall County on September 29, 1831 and
they moved to Cherokee County ca 1833. They had 12 children. Most of
these children, along with Jacob's daughter in law Sara Minerva Grogan,
are buried in Hickory Flat Cemetery. Henry Foster Cagle, his first wife
Nancy, and Henry's parents Jacob & Eliza, are probably buried there
(John G. Cagle's remark), but have no standing tombstones.
Eliza Robbins' dates are ca 1811 - 1870's. Eliza is also called
Elizabeth in the book. It is mentioned that she is the daughter of
William Robbins (page 155 in Volume II, part 3).
The 12 children of Jacob & Eliza are:
Mary Elizabeth (married a Day, moved to Kentucky
Jane - no marriage or death given
William A. (moved to Cobb County)
Henry Foster
Sally - married a Reece
Jacob J.
Rebecca, married a Reece
Dorcas Ann, married a Turner
Peter G.W.
John B., moved to Texas
Frances L. - married a Turner
Doctor Osgood Cagle - moved to Coryell Co., Texas
Jacob Cagle (aka Jacob Cagle Jr.) was son of Jacob Cagle (aka Jacob
Cagle Sr.). Please note that there are scads of Jacob Jr.'s and Jacob
Sr.'s, so it's hard - but important - to keep track of them.
Jacob Sr. lived ca 1766 - 1858. He married Elizabeth (b. ca 1770 d. ca
1850's). [How's that for confusing? Jacob & Elizabeth have a child
named Jacob, who married an Eliza / Elizabeth.]
This Jacob Sr. originated in Moore County, North Carolina. He migrated
earlier than most of the Cagle's to Georgia, as he arrived there in the
late 1790's or early 1800's.
Jacob's and Elizabeth's children included Jacob, Joseph Roland, George
Washington (not Angie's George Washington), Mary (who married William
Cagle - I don't think Cagle's had in-laws, only distant cousins!!).
Now we come full circle. We have reached the Jacob Cagle about whom all
the recent discussion has centered, i.e., whether this Jacob was the son
of John "Dutchman" Cagle, or brother Charles Cagle. So at this point, I
will close my books and leave the rest of it to you, Angie, as you can
pull up all the recent Jacob discussions. As you read them, did you
realize it was your ancestor? Better Cagle's than I can direct you from
the John "Dutchman" vs. Charles point, backward to the next several
generations.
So yes, in answer to your off-line question, you most certainly are
descended from Leonhart Kegel. So stay on the Cagle list - we are your
family!
Best regards.
