Hi all,
I just had a query from a lady seeking information on a Cagle family
from Alabama. A Rachel Powell married a Cagle man and had three children
of record, Franklin, Jackson and Polly Ann. They were from the
Marshall/Etowah county area. In searching my data base I noticed a
Powell marrying a Stirling so perhaps it could be from Dotle's line. If
any one knows anything of this family, contact me. Thanks
Gary

Gary,
I do have Sarah Adeline Powell married to James Spencer Stirling. She was
from GA, and married James in Ft. Payne, DeKalb County, AL. James Spencer
was my grandfather's brother.
This family of Powells were from Haralson and Carroll County GA.
Sarah had a younger sister named Rachel Tonnie Izola Powell. b. 1872, d. 8
Nov. 1922. I have no spouse listed. This could well be the one you are
seeking if the dates match. The family moved to Loveless in DeKalb County,
which is adjacent to both Marshall and Etowah. Most married in or near that
area in the late 1800's.
If I can help further, please advise, Doyle

Earl and group,
Earl has helped me search for "my" Joseph Cagle and none of the names make
sense with his searches. I found some more papers that state that this
Joseph's father was born in Virginia and his mother was born in North
Carolina. However, so far I have no names for his parents. We're not even
sure this is our Joseph. I recently obtained my ggrandfather's death
certificate (William Henry Cagle), and it listed his father as Joseph L.
Cagle (possibly Kagle). If any of this prompts someone's memory, would
appreciate any info you might have. Thanks so much.

Hi Everyone,
I recently added much more to the Civil War list. Earl provided some information on Archibald and Benjamin Cagle of the 42nd NC. Dana provided a photo of James Pinkney Cagle in uniform and a story about Jacob W. Cagle of SC. All of these can be found on links from the civil war list at the URL below.

Earl: Susan Laws gave me your address as a possible source for my
search. I am searching for info on Elizabeth Cagle born in VA. around
1790, married John Sutton in N. C. around 1815, moved to Monroe County
Tenn. early 1830's. Lived in the Big Creek area as they were charter
members of the Big Creek Baptist Church. They had 8 or 9 children, both
John and Elizabeth are buried in the Church Cemetery. Thanks for any
info you may have.

Hello James & List,
James, sent this query to me on Elizabeth Cagle. There were some early
Cagle's, in the
state of Virginia. However, I don't know who
her parents were.
There were Cagle's, living near John & Elizabeth Sutton (Cagle), in
Monroe Co; Tn.
By the fact that they settled near each other
there may be a connection
There is the chance that John Kagle (Cagle)
48, could have been a brother to, Elizzabeth.
LaMonna Phillips, a member of our list I think
had ancestors from Monroe Co.
She may be able to shed some light on this
for you, James.
If anyone on our list knows Elizabeth Cagle's
parents, let James know. Or if you know of any
Cagle & sutton connections.
Regards,
Earl

Dear List members,
Rootsweb has established a way for all postings on genconnect, to be
sent to list members.
So if I set this up correctly, then any postings
should be sent to us all.
I am hoping that this will give the list another
way of making connections.
Regards,
Earl
