Hello Guys and Gals:
I need help determining the descendency of the above described person in
the subject line. Her father was (I think) Jacob Cagle, No other
information and mother was Elizabeth Robbins, no other information. Mary
Elizabeth Cagle married a James Day of Kentucky.
He was a Baptist minister.
Thanks,
Lee Cagle

In reply to David Hutson's letter Re: Laura J. Canant.
David, looks like you and I may be twice related through the Cagle and
Canant lines.
Laura was a cousin to my great aunt Linda Canant who was from the
Cherokee County GA/AL area and born 1890. I knew her and uncle Jesse
Sterling well. She died in 1980 in Texas.
Linda was from Charles Fletcher Canant and Fannie Abercrombie of GA.
Charles was brother to George Washington Canant, Laura's father.
The Canants and Cagles began to migrate into Alabama through DeKalb,
Cherokee, and Calhoun counties before 1900 and shortly after.
They were mostly from Canton, Cherokee Co., GA. Some came to Dogtown near
Collinsville and Ft. Payne, other's settled in the Anniston area of
Calhoun Co. Descendants are there today. I communicate with a great
grandson of Mary Lucinda, a daughter of Joseph Roland Cagle who lives in
Gadsden.
At the time refered to, Collinsville was considered in Cherokee County,
Al. That's where my mother was born in 1911. Now it's in DeKalb County. My
mother's grandfather was Hosea Sterling, married to Anna Caroline Cagle of
the Benjamin Cagle line from Haralson County GA.
I have more on the Canant line, and am presently deep into the Cherokee
County Cagles and Joseph Roland's family.
My own guess would be that Laura was born in Cherokee Co, GA, and shortly
after moved to Collinsville with the rest of the Willis Canant Clan of her
grandfather.
I appreciate the data you sent. It will help fill out the tree for me on
Laura J.

Nancy Jane:
It has been nice to read your entries. You must have files on every
Cagle! I copied your latest on Joseph Roland, Isaac Jackson et al. I, too,
have the LDS
printouts, plus my family lists. Unfortunately, I don't have it backed up with
primary documents, but I can get them, if I need them.
Two things, maybe three, I want to offer. Isaac Thomas Cagle was my
Grandfather's father. Isaac's wife's name was Laura Josephine Canant. LDS
had it
Laura J. Kenant. She was born 20 Mar.1867 and died 21 June, 1940. There is
a question of her birth place. My family said Collinsville, Ala. LDS said
Cherokee,Ga. She died in Texarkana, Ark. and is buried in Harmony Grove
Cemetary there.
Isaac Thomas Cagle was said to be born in Canton, Ga., now Cherokee. He died
26 June, 1914, Texarkana, Ark. also and is buried in the same place as his
wife.
LDS gives a listing of their children which is correct as far as I can tell.
My family gives more. Joseph Oliver Cagle, born 21 Aug.1883 in Cherokee, Ga.
Died 28 Feb.1951. Buried Little Rock, Pulaski Co. Ark.
Thomas Orlando Cagle, born 25 Aug.1885 in Cherokee, Ga., died 17 Mar.1956.
Buried El Dorado, Union Co. Ark. Maried Lillian --. They had three children
that I know of.
George Lester Cagle, born 25 July, 1887 in Cherokee, Ga., died 10 Apr.1958.
Buried Bastrop, Moorehouse Co. La. Married Nellie Forrest. Nellie died 4 July,
1964. They had three children that I know of.
David Perry Cagle, my Grandfather, born 25 June, 1889, Texarkana, Ark.
Miller
County. He died 3 Sept.1977 Corsicana, Texas. Buried at Frost, Trexas. D.P.
maried Mary Elizabeth Landers 18 Sept.1910. Mary was born 23 Feb.1889 in
Shover
Spring, Ark. south of Hope, Ark. She died 16 July, 1970 in Huntsville, Texas.
She, too, is buried in Frost beside D.P. They had five children. All but one
are deceased. Four girls and one boy. All I knew growing up of Cagles were
these Aunts and their children and some cousins in Ark. The boy died young
and never married.
Napoleon Bonaparte Cagle, born 29 June, 1895, Texarkana, Ark. Miller County
Napoleon died 1 Mar.1962 and was buried in Hanover, Kings, Calif.
I would guess Isaac Thomas got to Ark. before 1889, when my Grandfather
was born there.
Thanks for all you are doing. I think I have sent a lot of this to Earl.
Use
what you can. My sister and Aunt have more on our family. There is some
written
material, too. We are all trying to collect as much as we can before it is
gone.
David Hutson (My mother maried a Hutson in 1939 in Corsicana, Texas)
Hi Everyone,
My search fo early PA Cagle's continues and today I have a couple of things
to share.
First, many months ago I sent for a will from Northampton Co, PA dated 1789
for one Henry Kegel. The will was settled in May, 1794. After many months
of waiting I received it in February. Well it is all in old German and to
make a long story short no one locally could interpret it so I sent it to a
man in Germany who works with my wifes company. He could not make out the
old German nor could his grandmother. He plans to take it to a University
where someone may understand the old language. If anyone would like to take
a shot at it, please let me know and I'll send you a copy. I would like to
find out who this Henry Kegel is. Little did he know that someday someone
would send his will back to his home country.
Second, Lucille Freeman recently sent me copies of what I believe are tax
lists from Berks Co. PA beginning in 1779. Remember that Berks Co is where
Leonhart had land. They are for Cumru Twp. and have the following
information:
1779
--Samuel Kagel, a Shoemaker, 200 acres, 2 horses, 3 mares
--Leonard Kagel, 1 Cattle
1782
--John Kagel, laborer
--Samuel Kagel Sr., 74 acres with building, 76 acres (I think it reads) with
land, 2 horses, 2 cows
--Samuel Kachel, 10 acres with building, 1 cow
--John Kachel, 50? acres with building, 100 acres land, 2 horses, 2 cows
1803
--John Kachel ? maybe Jr.
--Samuel Kachel Sr.
--Sam Kachel, Jr.
--John Kachel
--George Kachel
--Andrew Kachel
1805
--John Kachel, 1 mare?, house, 50 acres land, 100 acres land, 4 horses, 4
cows
--Samuel Kachel, 1 log house, 10 acres of land, 1 cow
--George Kachel, 1 cow
After looking this over I went to the PA digital search and found a marriage
record in the 1880's for the Kachel name. I then looked at the current
white page listings and found several listings for Kachel living in Berks
Co. today.
My question is does anybody know who these people are or how they fit in?
My suspicion is they are Cagle relatives who either stayed behind in Berks
Co or returned. I plan to contact some of the Kachels in Berks Co to see if
they may have any information.
If anyone has any information please let me know.
Thanks!
Tom Cagle

Hello list!
I am a fairly new member who has enjoyed the wealth of information I have
received from the list. I need someone to check my information to see if I
am on the right track. This is my line:
Leonhart Kegell, Johan Theobald David Kegel, Valentine, Valentine, Jr.,
John, Andrew J. Cagle, Litha Jane Cagle (my ggrandmother)
Can anyone send me information about this line? Will be grateful! I think
I get so confused seeing the same names used in each branch. Guess you can
tell I'm new at this!
Debra Brown
Nancy and Jim,
The will of John "Dutchman" Cagle does not list a son Valentine. I think that
the last record of Valentine may have been an 1815 land grant in Warren Co.,
TN? Some have considered that Valentine may have been the son of David Cagle,
1728-1780's as they both lived in the Mecklenburg-Cabarrus Co. areas of NC.

Descendants of George (Sr.) Tucker
Generation No. 1
1. George (Sr.)1 Tucker was born 1740 in Virginia, and died October
1804. He married Maria Dorothea 1764.
Notes for George (Sr.) Tucker:
George Tucker , Sr. Revolutionary War Patriot
George Tucker, Sr. was born about 1740 in virginia but migrated to
North Carolina prior to the Revolutionary War, as he is listed in "Roster of
Revolutionay Soldiers in North Carolina, page 344 - #2726 Salisbury
district, as a Patriot, having signed the "Oath of Alleginance" and
furnished supplies. He lived in Mecklenburg County, NC in the part that is
now Cavarrus County, near the Reed Gold Mine, but he owned land on both the
east and west sides of Rocky River, the east side being what is now Stanly
County. Most of George's children lived in Cabarrus County. However, sons
Leonard and Peter, along with sons-in law James Little and Leonard Cagle,
lived in Montgomery County, that part that is now Stanly.
George Tucker may have been twice married, but there is no record of
his first wife's name. A John Tucker who owned land adjoining the Tucker
heirs but was nor mentioned in the distribution and settlement of George
Tucker's estate may have been a son by his first wife. His second wife, Maria
Dorothea, is proven by her giving her consent as his wife to a conveyance
dated April term 1797. George and Maria dorothea were married about 1764.
George died before October 1804 as James Little and George tucker, Jr. were
appointed administrators of his estate at that time. Maria Dorothea died
before 12 September 1815, as the children sell her widow's dower land at that
time.

Notes: The lack of punctuation in the above deed makes for difficult
reading; however, the central idea seems to be that a parcel of land which
had belonged to the deceased George Tucker was being sold to satisfy the
claims of the legatees. The identity of the legatees is not made clear above,
but it would seem likely that they were the three sons and two son-in-law of
the deceased. If such was indeed the case, it would seem that Leonard Cagle
had married the daughter of George Tucker.
Information for John G. Cagle.
Children of George Tucker and Maria Dorothea are:
2 i. George (Jr.)2 Tucker, born March 10, 1765; died
August 19, 1855. He married Mary Clara Cloory.
Notes for George (Jr.) Tucker:
Both are buried at Kinza-Morgan Cemetery - The old Tucker burying ground.
3 ii. Joseph Tucker, born 1768. He married Mary Peck
September 17, 1808.
4 iii. Daughter(Susanna) Tucker, born 1770. She married
Leonard Cagle.
Notes for Leonard Cagle:
Both were over the age of 45 in 1820
1840 Paulding, GA.
Cagle, Leonard 100100001-000001020002 g.101 (1850 __?)
This is what it says under census information :
Some Cagle researdhers feel that Leonard Cagle of 1840 Paulding Co. was
identical to Leonard of 1830 Henry Co., p. 229; others feel that he was
identical to Leonard of 1830 Henry Co., p 204. The task of making the proper
identification is made more difficult by the fact that both Leonards of 1830
Henry were in their 50s (b 1770-80). If the male in his 60s (b.1770s in the
household of Jephtha Cagle in 1840 Cobb Co. could be positively identified
as Leonard of p.229, 1830 Henry Census, it would suggest that the Leonard of
1840 Paulding was identical to Leonard of p.204, 1830 Henry census.
However, the weight of evidence might seem to suggest that Leonard of 1840
Paulding was identical to Leonard of p. 229, 1830 Henry census; perhaps the
major factor to suggest this identification is the location of Jacob Cagle in
1840 Paulding, near Leonard. This Jacob, b. 1790s, is of the wrong age, and
has children of the wrong age, to have been the son of Leonard, p.204, 1830
Henry census. Rather, the Jacob of 1840 Coweta Co.
corresponds properly in age to the son of Leonard, p.204 of 1830 Henry. Thus,
it might be suggested that
Leonard of 1840 Paulding was identical to Leonard (p.204 in 1830 Henry ) was
missed in the 1840 census. As will be seen on the following page, Leonard,
p.204, later teappeared in the 1850 census of Chattooga Co. GA., living
adjacent to Jacob Cagle who had been in 1840 Coweta.
(I'm really confused maybe someone else can understand)
5 iv. Rosannah Tucker, born 1772; died July 17, 1857. She
married James Little 1788 in North Carolina.
Notes for James Little:
Both are buried in the Little Cemetery , Stanly County, North Carolina .
6 v. Jacob Tucker, born January 01, 1774 in Montgomery,
County, North Carolina; died December 31, 1837. He married Magdalene
"Molly" Cagle 1797 in North Carolina.
Notes for Jacob Tucker:
Jacob is buried at Flat Rock Cemetery in the SW, corner of Stanly County, not
far from Cabarrus Co. line.
His tombstone reads as follows .
Here lies the body of Jacob Tucker
born Jan. 1, 1771
died Dec. 31, 1837

8 vii. Leonard Tucker, born 1778; died Aft. 1860.
9 viii. James Tucker, born 1780 in North Carolina. He
married (1) Jane Russel October 20, 1817. He married (2) Milley Hartsell
November 17, 1828 in North Carolina.
Notes for James Tucker:

2nd marriage to Milly Hartsell 17 Nov, 1828

in North Carolina.
11 x. Catharenah Tucker, born 1785 in North Carolina; died
August 12, 1872. She married John Barba December 12, 1805.

When I was ten, my father brought George to live with us, so he would be

she is playing in the back yard.

she has wings, I saw her flying from one brush to another, it was dellia, I
know it was . He ran to the back yard looking for Dellia, she was playing
and Geroge saw her there, and nothing was wrong, yet he was convinced that
he seen her as an angel. on June 4th. just two days after George's
illusion, Dellia became ill, and on June 9th she was claimed by death .
