I thought that Mary was daughter of was Bishop John Hooper who was a
reformer in the 1500s. He was born c. 1485 and was executed on Feb. 9, 1555
for his leadership in the reformation. There was another Bishop Hooper (I
believe in 1600s) but I believe the did not have children.
I do think there is a Hooper connection to the Caffeys but I could not find
that Mary Hooper was married to Michael Caffey. I suppose there could have
been a previous wife that none of the records in MD reveal. There was a
Mary Hooper b. 1674, daughter of Henry Hooper II and Eliz. Denwood. I
believe that is our link to the Hoopers. Wish I could connect directly to
Bishop Hooper but have not been working on any of this for some time. Have
you seen the Hooper Family History compiled in 1962 by Katherine Hooper
Palmer in Cambridge MD?

In answer to your questions, his wife's name was Mary Hooper she too was
born in Dublin, Ulster Province, Ireland about 1726. Her father was Bishop
Hooper. This information can be found at the Alabama Department of
Archives and History. Their grandson, John Caffey 1751-1826 a
Revolutionary War Patriot, is my 5th great grandfather. His grandfather,
Micheal was indeed a linen weaver. They migrated here to America before
John's birth, first to New Jersey and eventually settling in Maryland.
