YOUNGSTOWN - Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at the Beulah
Temple United Holy Church of America, 523 Griffith St., for Deacon Samuel Coleman Caffey
Sr., 76, who was called home to be with the Lord on May 16, 2013.
Mr. Caffey was born Sept. 29, 1936, in Youngstown, Ohio (Mahoning County) a son of Clemen
and Lillian Womack Caffey.
He was a graduate of Chaney High School and had been employed by the Tamarkin Company for
35 years as a truck driver, retiring in 1999.
He was a member of the church, where he served as chairman of the Deacon Board, Sunday
School Superintendent, choir, male chorus, usher board, field worker and church treasurer.
He was also a member and lead singer with the Caffey Brothers Quartet.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 52 years, the former Barbara J. Franklin; two
daughters, Debra Caffey of Youngstown and Felicia J. (Myron) Lewis of Akron, Ohio; a son,
Samuel C. (Barbaran) Jr. of Howland, Ohio; three brothers, Marvin (Magdelene), Joseph L.
(Lillie) and Paul (Barbara) Caffey; two sisters, Ida Mae James and Claretta (Oscar) Dahn,
all of Youngstown, Ohio; two grandchildren, Samarra and Samuel Q. Caffey; and a host of
nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother James Caffey.
Friends may call Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the church and one hour prior to the
services on Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the L.E. Black, Phillips and Holden Funeral Home.
