Here is a transcription of Oliver Cady's will. Oliver was born in 1741
in Coventry, Tolland, Connecticut to Aaron Cady and Anna Palmer. He
died late in 1813 in Canaan, Columbia New York. Ela Cady is said to
have died young, unmarried and childless in both the Orrin Peter Allen
"Descendants of Nicholas Cady" and the update by James Cady. I think
the "Ely" Cady who married Elizabeth Waterman and had five children
christened in 1823 in Canaan was Oliver's son "Ela". If any of you
have proof one way or the other I would appreciate hearing from you. I
posted it on both GenForum's CADY page and under "Wills" on RootsWeb's
GenConnect.
Last Will and Testament of Oliver Cady.
Registered 01 Jan 1814
[Source: Columbia County Will Book "D", microfilm call number 047911,
Family History Library, Salt Lake City. Transcribed by Ted Pack.
"Oliver" is spelled "Olover" in the copy. The will book has copies of
wills, so an unknown clerk has transcribed it once already. The long
phrase about his wife looks like it has been mis-copied. I added a
note or two in square brackets. I used "-" for letters I could not
read.]
