thanks, Nancy, yes, I think so too, now. I had others suggest that and
looked it on the map and everything fits...it IS on the Chicago Northwest
route of the railroad, exactly and also matches up with some info in another
old letter to my g grandfather Darius Cady, from a friend in Biggsville,
Illinois. I don't know why I was unable to narrow it down before...seems
obvious now..but there are places called Sterling in nearly ever
state...sometimes more than one...a county here, township there, village
another place. Thanks again.
Now I hope to find somebody that has this A.J. Wilkinson in their family
tree or as a cousin to their Cady line which would mean that they are from
the same Cady line down from Andrew.

Deanna:
Sterling would probably be on the Rock River, southwest of Rockford IL.
It
is near Dixon IL, which is Ronald Reagan's home town. The locals
enjoy
boating on that part of the river. I am from California, but visited
there when
an
uncle and aunt had a summer cottage halfway between Sterling and
Dixon.
Lots
of corn and hogs in that area.
Suspension Bridge in the letter would probably be a part of Niagara
Falls
(the city). The bridge there connects to Canada.
