I have a Luther Cady born April 30, 1781 to Daniel Cady and Mary Spalding
Cady. His brother, Eliakim, was my direct ancestor. Could this be a match?
He would have been born in either Windham County, CT or Killingly, VT. I'd
be happy to share what I have.
Cinda

Subject: [CADY-L] Luther Cady
Hi,
Luther Cady is my 3rd great grandfather. I would like to learn who his
parents were and his siblings, if any. He was reportedly born in VT, about
1788. He married Orinda Jenkins and they had two daughters, Lucilda and
Phebe. Lucilda married J. Chester Douglass in 1843 and Phebe married Henry
Stone. The Douglass family lived on Pillar Point, in the Tn. of Brownville,
Jefferson County, NY all their lives. The Stones moved to the Strongsville
area just south west of Cleveland, OH and lived out their days there.
I have checked out the book "Descendants of Nicholas Cady of Watertown,
Mass" and found no connections to either Luther or Lucilda Cady. Does anyone
have a Cady tree with Luther on it? If he was indeed born in VT, he was in
Tn. of Brownville, Jefferson Co, NY, by 1823 when Lucilda was born. He moved
around a lot. He bought land on Pillar Point in 1841 and sold it in 1842 to
"go west". I have no idea where.
Would be interested in anyone's ideas or speculations. Ethel
