Janet,
My mother's grandfather fought in the Civil War. My son's grandfather fought in
the Korean War. Telling us she married your grandfather's brother doesn't help
much as an estimated birth year would.
If she was born about 1876, this might be her, especially if there was a Fred Miles who
married an Ella Abby in your family:
1930 census for New York, Steuben, Rathbone, District 67
HH/Fm 50/50
Abby, Emma head, 49, widowed
Miles, Ella, Dau, 29, age at 1st marriage 20
----, Fred, Son-in-Law, 42, age at 1st marriage 32
HH/Fm 51/51
Miles, Frank, head, owns home, worth $500, age 53, Age at 1st M 52, works as laborer on
state road crew
----, Sophia, 53, Age at 1st M 52, b. NY, Mother & Father b. NY
52 is rare for a first marriage. They either mis-understood the question or got off to a
really slow start. If this is her, you have an estimated birth year, which will help.
