Charles Lewis Cady child of Stoddard Cady (Revolutionary War Patriot) and
Abigail Marsh DID NOT start the pony express nor was he a part of the Donner
rescue party. I am a direct descendant of his. This Charles Lewis Cady was
born 28 Jul 1791 in Brookfield, Mass and died 20 Sep 1874 in Flushing, Genesee
Co., Michigan of cancer of the face. He is buried in the same plot as his
son by his first wife, mere Flushing. His second wife was Sarah Jacobs. She
died in Springport, Alcona Co., Michigan 3 Aug 1887 and is buried in
Harrisville, MI. Charles was never any where near California, the closest he
got was
when he lived with his second wife and family for a time in Washington, Van
Buren Co. Iowa. He was a carpenter and followed the timber trade. That is
how he ended up in Michigan. I descend from their daughter Ellen Mariah Cady
who married Samuel E. Stafford.
