Hi Shirley,
Norman Rogers has a Silas Cady who fits on his RWWC data base at
http://worldconnect.genealogy.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi
Don't know if he is yours or not.
In 1850 Norman's was living in Dix, Chemung, NY:
Roll: M432_486, Page 27
Silas Cady, M, 45, New York
Margaret Cady, F, 38, New York
Milton Cady, M, 21, New York
Luther Cady, M, 19, New York
Minor Cady, M, 16, New York
Uen Cady, F, New York
Theodore Ringer, 16, M
David A. ----, 14, M
Mary E., 12, F
George A., 9, M
Anor J., 7, F
The kids look like nieces and nephews from his first wife's side. This Silas married
Margaret Ringer and Marie Cleveland. The Ringer kids are in the same household.
I checked the odd names against the LDS 1880, just out of curiosity. I entered both
"Anor" and "Uen", left the surname blank and checked "Exact
spelling". There were 50 people named "Anor" in 1880, 7 named
"Uen". I suspect both are mistakes. "Anor" looks like
"Elenore" to me. "Uen" leaves me clueless. The enumerator has a fine
round hand - it is easy to read, and it says "Uen".
There are 6 RWWC people with a Silas Cady born within 5 years of 1805. Norm has Dix in
"Suyler", which is probably a typo for "Schuyler". A lot of us
brilliant people make typos.
Tompkins, Schulyer and Chemung counties are all neighbors down by Pennsylvania.
The US Gen Web page for Schulyer county has a search engine:
http://www.rootsweb.com/~nyschuyl/search.htm
I got 24 hits for
Silas Cady,
after I changed it from "any of the words" to "all of the words".
I hope this helps.
