This is a letter from one of their granddaughters, Fannie Nicholson --
My paternal Grandfather's name was Charles Cady. He was born and brought up in
Conneticut. He had two brothers, John and Stoddard. In the revolutionary war John went
to the Brittish side and moved to Canada. Charles and Stoddard were loyal to the
colonies. My grandmother's maiden name was Jane Helmer. She was of Holland decent.
They had a large famiy - 15 children. Some of whom died in infancy. I can mention some,
if not all of them and the girls' married names.
Stoddard (unmarried) died at 20

Oneida Co., N. Y. Eber and Mary Rice are burried in the old Florence Hill cemetery aged
about 80 years each. Their graves are marked with grave stones. I was there in 1890. My
father's first wife and child are burried there. Their graves too are marked.
(I have made may mistakes in writing, which please excuse.)
