Hi Jan. The statue sounds intriguing! Where did you find it? I did a little more research
on "Charles Cady" today. The father Charles was living in Ypsilanti in 1880,
occupation retired farmer - died sometime before 1900 census. The son Charles (went by
Homer in some census records) was living in Ypsilanti in 1880, occupation grocer. In 1900
the son was living in Ann Arbor, still a grocer. He died before 1910 because his wife
Theresa was listed as a widow then. They had six daughters, no sons. Don't know how to
tell if the statue has anything to do with either of these Charles Cadys. I also don't
know the connection to David Cady, though I have David Cadys in another branch of my
family tree. I do know that Amanda Cady Dickerson is buried in Union Udell cemetery in
Ypsilanti Twp. - found this on a trip to Michigan last month. Don't know where the
other Cadys are buried.
Thanks, Karen Dickerson Miller
