RE: California State Library in Sacramento. Their California Room has
wonderful research materials, including microfilm of several community
newspapers. They have a 3x5 card catalog that "goes for days" of names
they have pulled from many of their materials. After a certain year, they
put new entries on computer. I have not looked at that yet.
Below is a VERY partial list I jotted down from the cards.
Cady, Addison, farmer; Bio; History of San Joaquin Co p. 137 qc979.955
Cady, Catherine Wood; legal notice-death. d. Sacramento 12 Jul 1948; 80
years old. Sacramento Bee 7/13/1948 pg 30 col 6.
Cady, D. W.; killed in explosion. San Francisco Herald, 4 Apr 1959 pg 2 col 2.
Cady, E. M.; death 16 Nov 1889, CALL pg 8 col 1.
Cady, Elmer E.; History of San Joaquin Co, qc 979.455 T5 page 1572.
Cady, Harry; death 2 Jul 1864, Alta pg 1 col 6.
Cady, Loris V.; Bench and Bar of Los Angeles County, c923/49 79493 B457
page 188 1928/29
Cady, Loris V.; Who's Who in Los Angeles. W6 4th Ed 1927/28 page 284, p. 332.
Loris is my great uncle. I am looking for notation of another relative,
also from Miami County IN, who came during the gold rush, lost an eye and
returned home to IN.
The library is only open M-F 9-4. On some other lunch-time run, I'll try to
copy down more of the cards for this digest.
