Hello, I have several Andrew Cady's. Andrew> Gilson Andrew (died young and
single) and Andrew Gilson ('replacement for Gilson Andrew) > Darius Andrew
b. 1839. However, they are all accounted for in New York State. But, these
are in the direct line to me. While I have some of the "side lines" of
siblings of these folks, I do not know if I have them all. It is possible
that someone may have had a brother who had a child Andrew who relocated.
Some of the other relatives to this line moved to the midwest in the mid to
late 1800's.
But, I don't have a clue, really if your Andrew could be a descendant of one
of the siblings to mine in NY. I have several descendants from the children
of Darius Andrew Cady, but I do not have full documentation of the other
children or grandchildren of Andrew Gilson Cady., or of his brother,
Benjamin.
I do note that the name Andrew does not seem to have been as common as some
others in the Cady line, so it is a possibility there is some connection to
my family line, somewhere. But I don't have one for you at this time. My
old Andrew came from Preston, New London, CT to central upstate NY in 1798
as one of the early pioneer settlers to this area. He is descended from
Nicholas Cady, the immigrant from Suffolk Co. England to Watertown MA, then
to Preston, New London, Ct.
The line is Nicholas, Nicholas, Nicholas, Jacob, Jacob, Andrew, (the one who
moved to NY) Andrew Gilson, Darius Andrew, Jennie (my grandmother).
In the late 1800's his grandson, Darius, got letters from relatives and
friends he had grown up with in central NY that came from the Sterling area
of Illinois.
They also apparently had close connections, relationships, with families who
moved from Remsen/Prospect area of Oneida Co., NY to the midwest. These
would be Farley, Dickinson, Wilkinson and Henry.
Sterling, Illinois and Prophetstown postmarks on letters received. Also,
possibly Douglass family.
So, those are my Andrews. I have most of the info on them, but yours could
have been descended from a brother along the line.
Hope that helps some way, even if only suggesting a "route" you might want
to check or some other little clue.
Good luck
D.

Subject: [CADY-L] Andrew Cady
Hi, my husbands great grandfather was Andrew Cady, born around 1864,
we
think in Cincinnatti, Ohio. His first wife and 4 daughters died in a Cholera
epidemic in late 1800's. He then married Edna Clinkinbeard from Covington,
Ky. I believe they then migrated to St. Louis, Mo. where they had at least 2
sons. Virgil and Claude in 1904 and 1906. I have been told he pitched for
the Cincinnatti Reds ( can't verify that) I have also been told he worked
for the Alton giant, Robert Watlow. Does any of this sound familiar to
anyone. I haven't been able to trace his parents. The above information is
mostly family lore, so I need to document it. Thank you...Connie
