Hi Brenda,
Before I forget, here is the site about the Donner party that I found about
Charles Lewis Cady. It shows it birthdate and place.

I know what you mean about the census. I sure wish back yeas ago they would
have included all of the info other later years included. Had Charles lived
to 1900 we would have known his month of birth. And we loose to much by not
having a 1890 census.
I thought about sending for the actual birth record for Charles but I don't
think it will tell me anymore than the online record does. One of my great
grandmothers died in the 1890's and I have the page from the Washtenaw Co
Michigan records, and is shows basically what the one for Charles does in 1874.
It would probably show the ages in years a month as we already know.
I had thought about a will too. Since Sarah his wife was probably in Alcona
Co and Charles died in Genesee I am wondering where to look. Do you have
any thoughts? I have not pursued looking for will before.
The the other day I was tracking James in the census, only to find after
about an hours work, I think I was doing the wrong James. I don't have the
census subscription to
ancestry.com so I can't see the actual images. I think
I'll try it again today and see if I have better luck. I know he was in Alcona
Co Michigan as Charles and Sarah were in 1870. Just too bad at that time that
only James and a wife are listed, no kids as they were older. I think the
reason I had trouble the other day was the James had a different wife or maybe
one had died and he remarried and I was getting confused. Have you charted
out James at all???
Yes, the find of the Brookfield, Brimfield and Gill book was a real
treasure. I was glad I found my way around
ancestry.com to get these images. I
thought I might need the proof for Charles Lewis to Stoddard for any DAR
membership.
I can't remember if I told you but I did verify that someone has already
used Stoddard Brimfield Cady for DAR membership, so I sent for that application.
It may shed some more light once I get it. I also found something about
another DAR database in a genealogy magazine last night. I'm going to see if
you get to the data base for a search of a surname, this is just general
genealogy, not really membership, or if you have to contact them to do the search.
I will let you know what I found out.
I'll be back in touch!!!!
