The 1930 one is flawed. It has:
Griswald, Arthur, head, owns home worth $3500, no radio, Male, white, age 60, married, age
22 at 1st marriage, did not attend school, can read & write, b. Iowa, father b. USA,
mother b. NY. Arthur owns a restaurant.
Esther, wife, age 60, age 42 at first marriage, b. Tennessee, both parents b. TN also.
Rosetta K Sheffield, b. WI, father b. VT, mother Penn.
Rosetta can't be Esther's mother, obviously. I thought of one possible explanation
- Esther here is Arthur's third wife. Arthur marries someone when he is 22 and Rosetta
is 28.
Wife #1 dies. Arthur marries one of Rosetta's daughters. He is older than her by quite
a bit. (Rosetta is 6 years older than Arthur. She would have had children when she was 16
- 46. They would have married at age 16 - 24, usually. Thus Rosetta would have been at
least 32 (and Arthur 26) when Rosetta's first child married. Rosetta was probably
closer to 40, and Arthur 34 when Rosetta's first child married.
Wife #2 dies, Arthur marries Esther; someone his own age, maybe an old maid - she was 42
when she first married, after all. Rosetta likes Arthur or doesn't have anywhere else
to go. There were not a lot of choices back in 1930, before Social Security. She lives in
a back bedroom, helping out with the household chores in return for a roof over her head.
Or, this one may not be your Rosetta at all.
The 1920 Rosetta was born in Wisconsin, her dad in PA, mother in Ohio.
Clara is 21, I think. Her husband's surname starts with a round letter - O or D maybe
- and ends with a tall letter; d, b, k or h. His given name has a "th" in the
middle. He is 33.
He might be Arthur Vacek. Do you know who Clara married?
