Based on limited research I believe that Tallie is actually Talmadge W.
BASSETT the son of Seth & Betsy H. BASSETT who were living in Barnard, VT
during the 1880 census. The family included four children, Talmadge W. age
7, Ida M. age 6, Earnest E. age 2, and Luna J. BASSETT age 1 month.
All family members note their place of birth as VT except Betsy whose place
of birth is noted as New York. I believe the CADY entry is from Fred Emery
CADY b. 18 July 1868 at Barnard, VT to parents Chester CADY and Caroline
Addia ASHLEY. The CADY family was living in Barnard, VT during the 1880
census with 4 sons including, Elburtus C. age 17, Charles E. age 14, Fred E.
age 11, and Samuel R. CADY age 5.
I'm hoping to locate someone from Tallie's family so that this wonderful old
treasure can be returned to the care of family. If you are a member of this
family or know someone who might be, please contact me.
Thanks,
Shelley
