Did these Cady's originate in Ireland? My mother's maiden name is Cady, a line
that immigrated from Bavaria. However, I was told that there are large numbers of Cadys
in Ireland.

In trying to tie my Cady roots to the Donner Party, I found this
citation. Can't connect to Charles myself, but maybe someone else can.
"James Reed had been attempting to organize relief for Donner Party..
A second relief party was organized at San Francisco started 7 February
1846. On 1 Apr 1847, Selim Woodworth in San Francisco CA gave an account
to the editor of the California Star: The boy Isaac Donner died, and the
same night Mrs. Graves and one of her children. The remaining sufferers
continued two days without food..... Mary Donner fell into the fire and
burned her foot so severely that amputation will be necessary in order to
save her life. I have hastened down here with some of the sufferers who
required immediate medical attendance. Among them were two of my own men,
Henry Dan and Charles Cady, with feet badly frozen."
