Hi Ruth,
Do you have any more information on your William, such as what area of
Connecticut he came from and approximate years? The Connecticut GenWeb
county sites are very helpful. The Windham County site has the Barbour and
the Hale Collections on-line, birth, death, cemetery and marriage records.
There are at least two Cady Genealogies, the original, the Descendants of
Nicholas Cady 1645 - 1909 (shame on me, my mind is blank--who is the
author?) and the recent Cady Genealogy by Jim Cady. There are thousands of
Cadys in the two books, but alas, my 3rd-gr-grandfather seems to have missed
them both. He IS in the Vinton Memorial of his wife's family, so I guess
that's something! But as is the case in many genealogies of spouse's
families, HIS birth, death, and lineage data are omitted. Apparently there
were at least two William Augustuses in Brooklyn Connecticut about the same
time, and another William Akins Cady who is called William A. in the
original Cady Genealogy. One William Augustus is also listed in the
original Cady work. I'm trying to prove or disprove that this latter fellow
was or was not my guy.
Good luck to you, and check our archives for past messages you may have
missed.

Subject: Re: [CADY-L] Cady book look-up
I'm rather new to the Cady list and had not heard of a Cady book
before. I
am interested in my 2nd g-grandfather, William Cady, born in Conn. but
lived
and presumably died in Montgomery Co., MD. His daughter, Lucy
Elizabeth
Cady
Hilton is my g-grandmother. He may also be a William A. Cady.
Thanks very much............Ruth
