We all know about Nicholas coming from England in the first half of the
1600's, - of course. I have not been able to connect with
him yet and have to think that there may have been another Cady, perhaps
from somewhere other than England. My branch of the
tree (Haziel) was born in CT. in 1809 so I have to go back farther than
that to find an immigrant.
The family story was that Cady was Welsh. When I look at census lists of
Cadys they most often said they were born in Ireland
(if foreign born). I have run into other researchers, as well as
cousins, that insist that Cady was not Irish (heaven forbid!) but
rather Scottish. When I go to websites that deal with European genealogy
and do surname searches they turn up nothing or
precious little for Cady.
So, if the prevailing wisdom is that all of us Cadys came from Nick
through England, then what about all those immigrants who
said they came from Ireland? And why don't there seem to be any Cadys in
Ireland
certainly they didn't all come to America.
I'd like to hear from those of you who are following descendents of
immigrants other than Nicholas
. Particularly if you have a
"Haziel" in your line.
