The State of Missouri, bless their hearts, has a new data base of soldiers from the War of
1812 to World War I.
http://www.sos.mo.gov/archives/soldiers/

(Whoops. Not all of us were loyalists, I guess.)
I didn't try WWI for fear of overwhelming the server.
They have a couple of wars you may not remember. I found this one:
CADY, ARTHUR
>> Mormon War !!!!
Capt. Samuel Bogart's Company
Mounted Volunteers
They have a handy abstract of wars, too:
http://www.sos.mo.gov/archives/soldiers/abstract.asp
It told me:
<. . .>
Governor Lilburn Boggs called the militia to settle the problem. He also issued Executive
Order No. 44, of doubtful legality, it declared, "The Mormons must be treated as
enemies, and must be exterminated or driven from the State if necessary for public
peace..."
<. . .>
People who wish for the "good old days" may want to pause over that one. The
people in the red states and the blue states may have disagreed on who was the best man
for the Presidency, but they didn't grab their rifles and mount up to force their
opinions on each other.
