I did the y-DNA test on
familytreeDNA.com and there were 25 other Cadys. about half are
private and not listed, but the most common was Haplogroup "I" subclade M253.
These designations are difficult to explain, best to say they represent the oldest Y-DNA
in Europe. At best 12% of Europeans in Suffolk have this DNA, which is far more than any
area of Britain and close to areas of Scandinavia. Only two were not in that same group,
one was "J" and most likely his ancestor was a Cada (German), the other was
"R" possibly Irish. I found several Cada's who changed their surname to Cady
and several Irish Keidy's who changed their name to Cady.
I also did a DNA test on
AncestryDNA.com which pointed to 162 cousins, not one had the
surname Cady. My researh turned up several, but none with a DNA test to match to.
