The Joseph Cady of Pleasant Valley, NY was not Irish, born in New York to William and
Elizabeth Cady he is descendent of William, Jeremiah,William, John, James, Nicholas.
Nicholas Cady arrived as a Carpenters Apprentice in 1630, as a servant he was not listed
with his Master William Knapp and his future wife Judith. Several Books mention him (see
Desc of Nicholas Cady of Watertown,MA by Peer Orrin Allen or Cady Genealogy by James W
Cady (1991). If you want to verify this do a DNA test (
FamilytreeDNA.com) has a Cady
surname. If your Y-DNA turns out to be Haplotree "I" you are likely a Viking
desc..If you are sure about the Irish you will be "R" Many Irish Keady's
changed their names to Cady.
Do a little research and you will find a Mayflower relative, they arrived in 1620, you
just became a Puritan, Exactly the same situation happened to me.
