The name Penuel (various spellings) in the Cady family is found four times between 1732
and 1754 and was given to honor Capt of Militia Penuel Childs. The first Capt was Joseph
Cady and his son;s James and Benjamin both named a son Penuel. Naham son of Daniel also
named two son;s Penuel 1749-1754. They all lived in Windham County, eventually, David
Cady became Captain. The name slipped a generation to Penuel Cady grandson's (Daniel,
Joseph, Benjamin, Silas and Naham) Three named a son Penuel..
Not a lot is known about Penuel b 1732, his father died before 1735 and he was raised by
his mother Abigail and four sisters. It is believed he had four son's near Otsego, NY,
I believe two sons were David and Joseph of Mill Creek (now Cincinnati) Ohio, possibly
Daniel (1775 served in NJ Militia) and Asa who settled near Cleveland, Y-DNA supports
this connection to Nicholas b 1624. It also connects to Allied families, like Wilson,
Harris,Johnson, Curtis and Childs.
