James was the son of Captain Joseph 1666-1742 and was given 40 Acres of land near Thompson
Parish (Aka 2nd Killingly Congregational Church) He was involved in plans to build the
church and establish schools. Likely he would have followed his father in service to the
community when he died rather suddenly. His wife Abigail, three daughters Prudence,
Abigail Jr, and Bathsheba are all traceable, His son Penuel (Pennell) was born after his
death. The Church was not completed until 1742, so there is a serious lack of documents.
Some believe Abigail was James sister, which is unlikely. There were 62 Abigail's in
Windham County and more in Massachusetts. The most likely was Abigail Davis a cousin on
his mothers side. Another research mentioned Abigail Howe. In any case Bathsheba Johnson
and Abigail end up in Otsego,NY, but what happened to Penuel?. I found several Cady;s in
Otsego who I track to Cincinnati, Ohio in 1820. I have yet to tie Penuel to David and
Joseph of Mill Creek, !
Ohio. Except with family first names and timelines.
Penuel Child was a Capt of Militia and several Windham families named a son after him.
Including James, Benjamin and Naham Cady.
