Cady surname has probably different origins, Cady and cade are likely the original way
the name was pronounced Ka-dee. I check Y-DNA and the name is likely older than 1066, at
least the genes go back to the DANELAW period (880 AD) Sometimes referred to the
Viking's, but as they came to settle and not raid, it is better to refer to them as
Danes or Scandinavians. About 12% of modern English are descendents of this period. They
controlled most of England, except Saxon Wessex. The Cady's living near York in the
1300's were likely there from Viking times. Thus was before Caddy entered the Scotish
Language, But, the name is not found in the census of 1086.
