My Keady's arrived in 1854 on the ship Eva, landing at Battery Park NY on July 25.
They never settled in NY as the next place I've found them was in Washington DC in the
1870 census. Your information makes alot of sense given the fact that so many Keady/Cady
family were clustered together around M and 24th St. Most of my family were laborers of
some sort. My great grandfather James was a tinsmith and his father Martin was a
stoneworker and his father John was just listed as a laborer. I know the Irish Keady name
is based more on the tribal origins and the region of SW Ireland, near Galway. My DNA also
firmly roots me as Irish instead of english.
