The message to which this is a reply suggests that the three main types of test are Y-DNA,
X, and mtDNA.
The X test is not a general type. The general types are Y-DNA, AUTOSOMAL, and mtDNA.
The X is not an autosome. FTDNA includes some X data in its autosomal test, though. And I
think 23andMe may report both some X and some Y and some mtDNA as part of their test.
I just want people to understand that if you order an X test, and they take you literally,
then you will get an X test and not an autosomal test. This is not what most people are
doing. Most people either take a Y-DNA test (male line) or an autosomal test, or both. And
some also do an mtDNA test.
