English history is more complex than most Americans are aware of. There were waves of
people who landed on the British Isles, Celts, Greeks, Romans, Anglo, Saxons, Jutes,
Danes, Vikings, and Normans. Read Brian Sykes books for details. About 40% have Celtic
DNA, Roman era DNA includes some African DNA. The Vikings came first to conquer.about 880.
They were defeated by the Saxon King of Wessex but allowed to settle in Eastern Anglia.
Their strength was enough to encourage alliances and in time there descendents claimed the
thrown. Even William the Conquer was of this Danish (Viking) descent. England had 32
dialects, from all of these differences, tied together with Latin and Anglo-Norman The
surname Cady is likely of a Viking dialect. Caddy is of a Scotish dialect, Cade has two
dialects, )Ka-id and Ka-dee), the double ee became "Y" (think double uu) The
Irish also have Cady, meaning Pure (in Greek) and Keidy a clan name often Anglicized to
Cady. There are many claims to t!
he origin of Cady. surname. But, I suspect it was from Suffolk County, (Census of 1841)
which has a high Viking ancestry.
Note: the Ancient Danish language had no "C", but a "K" pronounced CA
in English.
