Jay I am sure you are correct. someone put the name online and Ida was the name she was
called but people were just putting it on as a 2nd name not her last name. With the
internet people have become very lazy and copy happy. Now I wonder if you know that here
is a statue with his name and others who were in a war. I think it was the Spanish
American war but can't remember for sure. I have seen it a million times I think there
is something about it online. Funny thing is I lived in Ypsi for years and have a gg
grandfather who is a Cady but not that line. I believe there were brothers living there
and another Cady not to far over in Plymouth or Northville. Good Luck

Charles R. Cady (b.1810, New York - d.12JUN 1890 Ypsilanti, Washtenaw, Michigan,
United States) was married to a woman named Phidelia.
My family bible record says that her last name was "Carter" - and yet almost
every family tree that I can find here says that her last name was "Ida" -
though with no documentation to back that up.
I know that "Ida" is a nickname for "Phidelia", and I find it unlikely
that her
name was Ida Ida.
I believe that the last name "Ida" is a mistake that has spread through the
ancestry.com world due to lack of research and/or documentation for poor
Phidelia.
Can anybody back me up on this?
Does anyone have documentation for either the last name "Ida" or
"Carter" for
the Phidelia that was married to this Charles R. Cady?
They had a whole bunch of children (see my Atwood/Nelson tree)and I would think
that someone, somewhere would be able to settle this.
Thanks!
Jay Atwood
