It is tricky to find his parents. I found in Court of Common Pleas listing probate on
Joseph, David and listing Daniel and Lucinda. Census of 1820 lists David and two elderly
adults, Joseph and Lucinda, in 1821 Both David and Joseph died. Lucinda shows up in 1850
age 83 from CT with Joseph C Cady Jr. 1794-NY. So, Lucinda is the wife of Joseph Sr.
Daniel West Cady 1790-CT was in Lemon, Butler Co, OH and BJC is in Colerain. BJC names his
second son Joseph Daniel Cady. Joseph Jr named his second son Johnson Cady. IN 1855, POLLY
moved to Texas and letter stated they stopped on the way to visit her family. BJC's
Uncle David was in PA in 1790-99 with Joseph. BJC listed born in PA on 1870 census, So the
family moved from CT to NE PA and then to OH.
Conclusion, the family originated in CT and between 1760-90 moved to PA. They received a
land grant from PA in 1798. Read about the Yankee-Pennamite war, it is a possible
connection. It is likely, they were teamsters. They were in Pike County near border with
NY and NJ, transit county. I am still working on Wilkes-barre Historical Soc.
