Believe based on family lore that Martha J. Cady's maiden name was PATTON and the the
William Cady born in 1850 was William Patton Keady. Also the William, head of household
in the 1850 census was William McFarland Cady.
The family is next located in the 1860 census in Middleport, Irooquois County, IL under
the name Heady (Name probably changed from Cady to Keady sometime between 1850 and 1860
and than picked up on the 1860 census as Heady).
Heady, WM F.,38, PA, Printer
Heady, Elizabeth, 30, IN
Heady, George M., 15, PA
Heady, Mary, 13, PA
Heady, William, 10, PA
Heady, Anna, 8, PA
Heady, Ida, 1, IL
Steele, Catherine, 15, NY
William's first wife, Martha J. Patton died about 1853 and he married 2nd Elizabeth
Burntrager.
The 1840 census for Washington, Washington County, PA enumerates a Joseph Cadey with 8 in
the household. Males: under 5--1, 15 & under 20--2 and 50 & under 60--1, Females:
under 5--1, 10 & under 15--1, 20 and under 30--1 and 40 & under 50--1. I wonder
if William who was born about 1820 could hane been one of the males 15 & under 20??
Also any leads on the rest of the family?
Thanks
