My ggg-grandmother was Diantha CADY, born 25 Mar 1810; died 14 Jan 1837. She married
Moses Johnson JENNER on 04 Aug 1825 and they had the following children:
-- Stephen Jenner, b. 21 Jul 1826**
-- Mary Jenner, b. 12 Nov 1826
-- Nathaniel Jenner, b. 18 Mar 1831
-- Moses German Jenner (my gg-gf), b. 25 Dec 1833
-- Diantha Jenner, b. 1835-1836
**Probably 1825, which would explain her marriage at age 15
Her husband, Moses J. Jenner was born 04 Apr 1799 in Pittsford, VT. Moses moved with his
parents to Harmony (Chautauqua County), NY around 1815. By 1820 he was a deacon in the
Panama Baptist Church, but disappeared from the church records around 1825 -- again
lending suspicion that a "shotgun" wedding had been necessary. Or perhaps he
found his true love and moved away. I've been told that many from southwestern NY
moved just a few miles to northwestern PA to raise their families.
After Diantha's death, Moses remarried and moved to Indiana, where it appears he died.
His daughter, Diantha, also married, lived, and died in Indiana.
The name, Diantha Cady, is surprisingly common. I have found record of a Diantha Cady
marrying Samuel BOTSFORD in Milford, CT and dying in Seymour, New Haven, CT. Earlier
generations of Jenners had married into the same Botsford line. Another Diantha Cady was
married to Delos BASLER and died in Otswego, NY. Yet another Diantha Cady lived and died
in Southbridge, MA. Earlier generations of Jenners had also lived in MA. So I suspect
there was a long history between the Jenners and Cadys prior to this marriage, but
I've never been able to find MY Diantha's birthplace or parents.
