For those of you who do not know Jim Cady: He has been unable to work on the
CD himself because of health problems. I have not heard a report of his
status since his most recent set-back. We hope and pray that he is recovering.

Dear Janet:
Dr. James Cady is/was a compiler of information sent into him from people
like yourself. He makes no claims as to the correctness of the information. I'm
sure you noted that the second book was nothing but updates and corrections to
the first. The new Cady Book on CD (still working on it, folks-- had to quit
for a while, various reasons, but we're plugging onward again!) is collating
all of the first and second book plus more info that has come in--some new,
some corrections. Even the Mormon repositories of info have lots of errors, and
so, unless you have the information first hand--birth/marriage/death
certificates, wills, etc--you look at the info in such a compilation as Dr. Cady's as
only a place to start your own research. After you are sure you've gotten what's
correct, you can send your corrections and updates to the new compiler, me.
(But we won't be accepting new material until we've finished with what we have
now!) Then, when it is published, someone else researching the same famly b
ranch, can read your work and know where to start.

Hi Betty,
Thanks for answering my post and thanks for keeping us updated as to the new
CD, how it is coming along. Hopefully by the time you are ready to take new
information I might have answers to share too. I am hoping by my post to
bring out some others who might also be working on this line and have some
information to share as to the children of Jonathan.
Good luck on the CD and I will be watching for news of it's finished
product. And pass on my best wishes to Dr. Cady also and I hope he is able
to get back to the project soon. It is a great starting point for doing
genealgy.
Janet

Hi, I am researching the Jonathan Cady line. Jonathan was born in Cornish N.H. in 1767. His parents were Elijah Cady Sr. and Dinah Spalding. After reading both the Cady genealogy books I am totally confused. Who are the children of Jonathan Cady and his wife Miriam Chaffin? Hollis, William Ransom, Sarah, Sally, and Hiram? Dr. James Cady adds a Laura to the group. There is a Laura married to Benjamin (Benjamite) Potter, living next to Jonathan in Troupsburg in 1835. Dr. James Cady does not list a Sally Cady. He lists Hiram as being born in 1810 in Claremont,VT.Claremont is in N.H. I have a lot of circumstancial evidence that my great Grandfather Hial Cady may be the son of Jonathan. Hial was born in VT in 1810. Anyone have any documentation as to the children of Jonathan? The lines of Hollis and William Ransom seem to be well known, the others seem a bit fuzzy yet. I am not sure if Sally and Sarah are one in the same with one being a nickname. I have found Sarah and her husba!
nd, Julius Morey, buried in Brooks Cemetery in WI where my Great Grandfather has a son and grandson buried. Sarah named her son Hial, and Hial named his son Julius. I think they are brother and sister. They lived side by side in Troupsburg, along with Jonathan, Benjamin Potters, Hollis, and Ransom. The Cady book lists Hiram as dying in Iowa after 1874. Hial died in Iowa in 1891, but I can find no record of a Hiram dying there. Thanks for any help! Janet
