The beginnings are well documented:
Thomas Cadwell & Elizabeth Stebbins, Hartford CT
Edward Cadwell & Elizabeth Butler
Edward Cadwell & Deborah Bunce
Abraham Cadwell & Sarah ?
Isaac Cadwell & Elizabeth Brace
From this point, public documentation of my (wife's) line becomes much more
sparse.
Among the children of the above Isaac Cadwell are Isaac and Jacob Cadwell,
who moved from CT to Bristol, Addison Co. VT in about 1800. (Jacob and his
children are believed to have subsequently moved to Lake Co., IL.) Isaac
subsequently moved to Middlebury, VT.
Among this Isaac's children is Milton Cadwell, who between 1830 and 1840
moved from Bristol to Churchville, Riga, Monroe Co. NY. (Milton had a brother,
Loyal Cadwell, married in Bristol to Aurilla Plumley; he subsequently served
in the Civil War from IL.) By 1860 Milton's family had moved to Madison
town, Madison Co., NY.
Among Milton's children was Loyal Cadwell (not to be confused with his uncle
mentioned above) who also served in the Civil War, but from NY. He settled
in Randallsville, Lebanon, Madison Co., NY and is buried in Eaton NY.
Loyal had children by two (sequential) wives (who were sisters), George by
Ruth Cook and then (among other children) Morris by Mary Ann Cook. Morris's
subsequent children by two (sequential) wives leads to the more recent members
of the Cadwell family, our line largely remaining in Madison Co. NY.
