MUSCATINE, Iowa - Thomas Clayton Cadwell, 75, died Thursday, July 28, 2005, at St.
Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minn.
Services will be at Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be at Benson & Langehough
Funeral Home, Northfield, Minn.
He was born May 13, 1930, at Bayard, Neb., to E.T. ''Everett'' and Grace
(Chapman) Cadwell. He graduated from Omaha Technical High School and joined the US Navy in
July 1947. He was stationed in San Diego and served as a machinist. He was discharged in
May 1950. In 1952, he began working for Akron Standard Mold and in 1954 for B.F. Goodrich
in Akron, Ohio. He married Wanda Maxine Scott on May 24, 1958, in Akron. In 1960, he began
working for National Rubber Machinery.
In 1964, they moved to Muscatine, and he began working for Bandag, Inc. While working for
Bandag, he traveled extensively throughout the world. In 1972, he began working for
Huxtable - Hammond. In 1974, he moved to Red Wing, Minn., and began working for
Durkee-Atwood. He moved to Northfield in 1977 and worked as a boiler engineer for Carleton
College until retiring in 1989.
Memorials are preferred to the American Lung Association. Arrangements are with Benson
& Langehough Funeral Home.
He enjoyed cruising the downtown Northfield strip as well as golfing, bowling, travel,
playing the trumpet and driving stock cars. He was a very family- oriented man and his
children and grandchildren were the most important thing in his life.
Survivors include his children, Denise, and husband Steve Martin of Naperville, Ill., Tom
Cadwell, II of Northfield, Barry Cadwell of Faribault; three grandchildren, Tyler and
Megan Martin and Stacie Stechmann; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine, in 1970, and his brothers: Everett
''Harry,'' Richard and Robert.
